My Brother the Ice FishermanPosted Monday, February 8, 2010, at 11:04 AM
A while back I wrote a blog about Ice fishing and included a picture of my brother standing in front of his Ice shack Here is that picture
Apparently his local News paper thought he is pretty cool as they did a little story about him Here's the link http://portagedailyregister.com/news/local/image_53bd81f8-1150-11df-99e9-001cc4c03286.html I think he is pretty cool too. I think its great that a senior citizen will go out and do things like this. I think he turns 66 this month..... Oh Oh I could be in trouble now if I am wrong on his birthday or for telling everyone how old I think he is. lol ! I remember those days growing up in Northern Wisconsin I didn't ice fish however I was very into ice skating, did a little figure skating but my favorite was speed skating and Hockey..... I sort of was a tom boy back in that time. lol !

Cute story Mar! Thank you. He has a very cute dog too!
Okay...I have to ask. If he has an "ice shack" to sit in and stay warm (or at least warmer)...why is he outside fishing and not "inside?" I had to ask. I am a warmer climate fisher person and do not like to play on ice covered lakes (right back to if it can go wrong...it will go wrong). So, I guess I do not understand the sport 100%. Clarification please. Many thanks.

I was wondering the same thing and my husband also asked why is he fishing outside of his shack? I will have to ask him.
When I was a kid I used to skate on a lake...
Also back in the 80's here in the winter we had a cold spell where it froze over the cove out at strike and I have a picture of me standing out in the middle of the cove. lol ! I was fearless then...
I am glad I am not the only one with the same question (lol). He does look happy. Maybe he only goes in if it is snowy, raining, etc. I like to be out in the winter myself. The only thing that will get me is wind with rain/snow. Once you get wet and cold...you are pretty much done. Winters here are mild and it sure beats the heat!
I hate the wind ! I can take the snow and the rain but the wind thats a different story. My opinion is with the wind you can't fish, you can't sit outside, and you can't barbecue.....lol !
That was a great story, thanks for sharing!
I'm with you, I don't like the wind,...and I can dress pretty darn warm, but that wind does try to sneak in your cloths.
