Those Who Do Nothing...Do Nothing And Then Claw At Those Who Do!

Posted Saturday, September 12, 2009, at 11:25 PM

I went to AFAD, with others from the "naysayer" group, to obtain more signatures for the petition to rid taxpayers of this burden more commonly known as the Western Elmore County Recreation District. You know, the taxing district that was voted in in 2001 and began stealing...I mean taxing us for a facility/organized recreation that has never come to fruition. But what the heck is 9 years among friends?

Well, let me spell things out for my fellow "fans" out there in blog world.

Since 2002, we have paid the WECRD over $1.8 million dollars in taxes (this is 2002-2008). According to their P & L the WECRD, from 2002-2008, has spent around $390,000 AND WE HAVE NO FACILITY! In 2001, the WECRD sold the district to the voters on a per household fee of $34.50 (first taxes collected in 2002) and then SWITCHED to a property tax WITHOUT A PUBLIC VOTE. On or about October 10, 2008 the GreenPlay Report was provided (from GreenPlay) to the WECRD. On October 29, 2008, local resident Sandra Pitts wrote a LTE in the MHN and talked about the report:

http://www.mountainhomenews.com/story/14...

To be more specific and taken directly from that letter that Ms. Pitts wrote:

"Mr. Bermensolo's other concern seems to be the on-going financial viability of the recreation center. Let me address that. The WECRD board hired Green Play, a well-recognized recreation analysis company, to develop an operational budget and five-year projection of the sustainability of our investment. The 10-page report covers everything: staff, instructors, pool supplies, maintenance, lifeguards, insurance, equipment, utilities, childcare, fees, etc. The fees are broken down to include: in-district, out-of-district, military, families, singles, seniors, youth, monthly memberships, daily admission, even scholarships for low-income users. It's all there."

Yes Ms. Pitts, you are correct, it is "all there." So if it was "all there" then why did Mollie DENY that the GreenPlay Report was completed when asked for it late in October? Because as you said Ms. Pitts, "It's all there." The sky high costs to maintain a pool! What people will be paid! What it will cost to join! Yes, it was all there which was why Mollie Marsh denied the GreenPlay Report to the public. She LIED because of the election and she knew if people saw the report and the costs THEY WOULD BE SHOCKED AND THERE WOULD BE QUESTIONS! Darn those people that DARE to question what THEIR tax dollars are being spent on. How DARE they?

And in response to this post:

Those who can, do...those who can't, complain about what is being done.

-- Posted by junkyard dog on Sat, Sep 12, 2009, at 4:13 PM

Those who are not smart enough to figure out when they are being lied to...deserve to be taxed to the fullest amount allowed by law. The WECRD denied a donation to youth recreation TWICE but budgeted up to $5,000 for AFAD today.

If you were smart enough to see the facts for what they are---YOU WOULD COMPLAIN TOO. Those who are too stupid, DO NOT.

How dare anybody question the WECRD? How dare anybody question a RECREATION Board who refuses to donate money to recreation programs. How dare anybody question anything regarding these "community leaders" and how they decide to spend OUR/YOUR/MY money? Indeed, how dare I?

How about HOW DARE THE WECRD? I guess we are okay with no accountability. How sad. How very, very sad. Is this now the standard for which we will live? Not me but thanks.

P.S. (A thought after my post)

There are those that will choose to do and others who will choose not to do. Some people are happy going through life thinking that everyone else will handle issues/situations for them. I am a bit more proactive and choose NOT to allow life to happen at the hands of others and hope for the best based on the decisions of someone else. If this makes me a "complainer" in the eyes of someone who allows life to happen, so be it. The "complainers" are the ones who get the results for those who do not so the "do nots" can sit back and talk about how bad the movers and shakers are while they enjoy the fruits of the non-lazy of society. Glad I could help. In case there is a question about who this was meant for...I think I covered that in fairly clear terms. Woof-woof junk bow wow.

Clearly, your WECRD must lack a golf course. That'd solve everything. Golf courses work wonders for developing local economies, and if plans for a golf course were included in your WECRD, there'd be a golf course and a pool! Well, maybe a pool. The golf course would have to get priority, because it is common sense that business deals that benefit the entire community originate on golf courses. Researching Elmore County and Mountain Home would reveal that since Mountain Home expanded it's golf course from 9 to 18 holes, Elmore County and Mountain Home have benefitted from a huge garbage dump and several confined animal feeding operations (CAFOs). Garbage and a lot of crap.

My WECRD? As far as supporting any further government waste Mr. Thompson, you have the wrong gal. I am not a golfer either and do not support that money pit. While I think it is a nice thing to have for the community...it is, IMHO, not run very well. Oh well. Thanks for your comments.

I think ANY special projects and facilities should be supported SOLELY by those who WANT them.

There are many of us who would like an indoor pistol range, so we didn't have the unpredictable Idaho weather to contend with.

What do you think public reaction would be if a handful of us wanted and EXPECTED the taxpayers to FOOT THE BILL for something like that?

You NON-shooters out there.............every ONE of you would say (and rightfully so)......."HEY, if you guys want an indoor range, pay for it YOURSELVES!"............"We don't shoot, and a lot of us don't even LIKE guns, so why should WE help you build it?"

Well..............not many people play golf, and most of this town will never use that multi-million dollar rec center they're proposing...................so.................they that WANT it........let THEM build it.

The costumes were hand made Ms Sellers had the indian costume for the past 3 years, the sailor outfit and others were put together.no tax dollars were used in this part of the WECRD float...Guess Ms Lauric should just drive over and ask for info. Sooner or later you will have to take back your tirade of calling people LIARS & being STUPID.

Solaceone-

I am not sure where your comment is coming from I never read OM say anything about the costumes. I read and reread and the only thing I see in the blog entry is that the WECRD spent $5,000 on AFAD.

I personally would like to see a break down of just how that $5,000 was spent. The board freely spends our money how they see fit. I don't see how you can justify spending that money on AFAD. The board has been asked to support local kids and have turned those programs down.

I agree that the WECRD board is a group of LIARS and needs to be replaced.

I have never known any project to go on as long as this has. In 9 years this community should have something to show for the tax money that has been taken and we clearly do not. Any other project manager would have been fired years ago.

I am more than happy that OM brought this situation to light. I have lived here since 98 and did not own property until 04 and was not aware that I had been paying for nothing. Now that I am aware I am fully behind getting rid of the current board. If another board can come in and fix the mess and progress is made then great. If not the whole thing should be desolved and we live the Parks and Rec we currently have.

I'd vote for the whole thing being desolved. Good post, Pandora.

solace:

I do not know why I am associated with a comment regarding Mollie or how anybody else was dressed at AFAD. Here are the AFAD posts. Get your facts together. You must be one of them because you come to this forum with the same lies, untruths, etc. that they (the WECRD Board) do. Or maybe you are just BB with a new screen name. Who really cares in reality because you are not truthful or factual. Thanks for your comments. I hope you find "solace" in your support of these people.

So, where did you get your info on what I was asked, when and how? Perhaps make some phone calls yourself before you call me a liar. Just a thought.

Here are the posts:

I am also back from AFAD. I was also pretty unhappy with how MY tax dollars were spent by the WECRD today. I would have rather seen $5,000 (or whatever they spent today) go to the kids/youth recreation programs. But hey, I am not a parent so what do I know? We got a lot of signatures so all and all it was a good day. LOVED the WECRD person that was sent over to the food line to stand right with "our" person. We got a lot of signatures off of your pushy ways. THANKS!!!

Nice "facts" in the leaflet you handed out. You should have worked on your "detail" work a bit more as what was stated was not really 100% true. But then again, it really is not about truth with you folks...never has been and never will be.

2 more weeks and we are done with this! COME ON NOVEMBER!!!

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Sat, Sep 12, 2009, at 3:39 PM

Back from AFAD. Today I spoke with a retired Navy man for about 15 minutes and thanked him for his service and for his wife's service along side him as his spouse. I love listening to past era soldiers, the stories are great!

I welcomed home a soldier who got in late last night and was at AFAD today!

A good day! I hope that you made someone's day today it was easy, just had to say "thank you".

-- Posted by SoThisIsSmallville on Sat, Sep 12, 2009, at 3:06 PM

While walking around the AFAD festivities, a person dressed as an native American came up and handed me a flyer promoting the WECRD. First guess we know where some of the $5,000 parade budget went, costume rental. There was the native American and a Sailor. Not sure how thye relate to recreation but there they were. Also some of the money might have want to the flyer that has color pictures. I looked over the flyer and learned a few new things. I never knew that the directors were "Volunteer" directors. I thought Ms. Marsh was voted in, Ms. Borgholthaus was selected and Ms. Sellers applied. In my book that would not make them volunteers.

Also they claim the land is near medical facilites. What they fail to mention is the closest medical facility is a private clinic and dental office. Also they claim that 2000+ students are within walking distance. Funny since the entire MH School District population is 3,593 and there are only 3 schools that I would consider within walking distance. Based on the claim of the WECRD, over 50% of the school population goes to these 3 schools. I have to wonder why there is over crowding at the High School, Junior High and Hacker. Maybe the School Board was not aware of this and needs to be made aware of it by the WECRD.

So bring on your comments supporters, I used the flyer that the WECRD produced for this information so it has to be correct. Debate me on this one.

From yob's blog:

YoB:

Your WECRD did a great job at AFAD. Too bad none of that $5,000 (or whatever they ended up spending) was spent on the kids/recreation. Too bad they turned the kids down twice (once at the BM and then again at the budget hearing in August). Too bad! I am so happy you support them. Good luck with that. Everyone needs a cause.

Waiting on those "facts" there solace. Anything I speak of on this topic is 100% backed up with info I have obtained right from the source. I do not take the word of another. I do all of my own research. Thanks for your concern. Waiting on YOUR "Facts" please. Put your money where your mouth is and PROVE me wrong as well as where I can find the info to see it for myself. IF I am wrong, I will gladly state so...but I am NOT. Have a great day.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Mon, Sep 14, 2009, at 1:25 PM

I was all for the petition way back when, and I haven't changed my mind. Aside from signing it though, I just haven't been able to offer much support. But I may have cracked the code and have what looks to be their formula for success: 1+9x0=0. (1 sign) + (9 years of taxes) x (0 recreation) = 0 progress.

-- Posted by VicVega on Mon, Sep 14, 2009, at 1:36 PM

Good one Vic! We know you are with us in spirit. Few of us really have time for this but enough really is enough. November could not be closer.

YOU ARE WRONG ON THE DEADLINE TO FILE THE PETITION WITH THE ELECTION OFFICE FOR A NOVEMBER VOTE! 100% wrong. FYI - the deadline was Sept 8th - 4 days BEFORE Air Force Appreciation Day!!!!!!!!!

-- Posted by Whyarentyoulistening? on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 11:44 AM

WAYL, whatever. If that is what you have to say in an attempt to discredit me and make yourself look better, so be it. It still does not change the FACT that we were working from a date obtained by the local election office. The date was NOT just given to me---it was given to others as well. Do you really think we ALL got it wrong? Please.

We "missed" the date based on incorrect info. It is not a "legal," in print, published deadline. The petition will be filed and go to a vote in February, 2010. The Sept. 25 date was not correct either! The petition MUST now be in by December 4, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. to make the February vote. We will not "MISS" this one unless of course the date changes yet again or other "terms" come to light.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 12:33 PM

You got it wrong, you were mistaken, you erred!!! Simple fact.

But what do you do? Admit you made a mistake somewhere? NOOOOOO! of course your way is to BLAME someone else because you got the info wrong!!!! Exactly what you have been doing all along.

Still, NO malfeasance against the WECRD to date.

A few vague comments on the noticing of meetings to the AG but no substantial complaint....however, OM- you are really good at making accusations and inferences without actual legal proof on a blog site.

We are all anxiously awaiting the PROOF you say you have.

So far all you have proven is that you don't agree with the allocation of the budget or the progress of the center. Other than that, you have nothing but your foolish statements. You actually have NO FACTS just opinions.

-- Posted by Whyarentyoulistening? on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 1:30 PM

guess November isn't a close as you thought.

next mantra.

just wait 'till February. oooooh aaaaahhhh

-- Posted by Whyarentyoulistening? on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 1:33 PM

The elections office got it right. All anyone had to do was pick up the phone and call them to know the correct date. We did, since way back in early July. We were always given the same date - Sept 8th, by 5:00 p.m. Since she didn't get her petitions in by the deadline, one can only reason that she didn't have enough signatures to turn in. I can hear her posts now - COME ON FEBRUARY! What a joke.

-- Posted by boomerbeth on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 3:29 PM

Funny thing, the supporters for the WECRD started calling the elections office on a weekly basis since early July to get the actual deadline for the petition to be on the November ballot. We were always told the same thing - Sept 8th, by 5:00 p.m. If we can get the correct date way in advance of the deadline, why couldn't she? Now Lauric's pulling her usual stunt of passing the buck and saying she was given the incorrect date by the elections office. She'd better be careful when she slanders and lies about public election officials.

-- Posted by boomerbeth on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 3:12 PM

Thanks for the great PR Ms. Reed. It clearly indicats that you are ALL a bunch of liars. Do you not think the WECRD had a duty to tell the public the date was wrong? I do.

I "missed" the date based on bad info. Funny thing ONCE AGAIN is that I was NOT the only one who was given this info but I guess we will choose to ignore that FACT.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 3:59 PM

OM: how are we "all a bunch of liars"? We were told from the very beginning from Vivian at the elections office that the deadline date was Sept 8. We were never told that it was any other date. Let me see if I can get this clear in my head. According to you, WE are responsible for posting on the WECRD website when the deadline date for handing in the petition signatures is. Are you CERTIFIBLE? This petition thing was your deal. Why would we do your work for you? You messed up. Even though you're trying real hard to blame everyone else for your screw-up, the fact is that it was YOUR SCREW-up! Either that or you knew you didn't have enough signatures to turn in.

-- Posted by boomerbeth on Tue, Sep 15, 2009, at 6:48 PM

OM,

Who else was given this bad info?

-- Posted by Beau on Fri, Sep 18, 2009, at 1:57 AM

Beau, she is the only one to make that claim. The calls I made to the elections office gave me the date of Sept 8 from Vivian. I personally believe this is just another example of OM's dishonesty, false accusations and lack of character.

IMO a person might have just said "made a mistake, but will have the petition in by the next date for the next election" but no... her tactics are the same BLAME any/everyone else and take NO personal responsiblity.

Now IMO, I will find anyone (EE, etc) who says differently to be trying to cover OM's mistake. If it were truth, the "others" would have said something IMMEDIATELY.

OM's PERSONAL vendetta against persons involved with the wecrd has shown through over and over.

-- Posted by Whyarentyoulistening? on Fri, Sep 18, 2009, at 8:48 AM

Beau:

Several in "my" group both in person and over the phone. The SOS was given the incorrect info regarding the Sept. 25th date as recently as Monday of this week. If it is names you are after Beau...no can do due to restrictions. However, I am sure you will hear about it soon.

Enjoy your day/night.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Fri, Sep 18, 2009, at 4:47 PM

Om my only hope is that you will make your false accusations to the right people and they will hold you accountable for it.

In the State of Idaho there is a penalty for making false reports... abet not stiff enough for all your false accusations but a penalty none the less. Perjury is also punishable, might warn those willing to lie for you.

-- Posted by Whyarentyoulistening? on Fri, Sep 18, 2009, at 11:54 PM

If perjury was punishable, Obama and most of his Congress would already be in jail.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sun, Sep 20, 2009, at 8:31 AM

Yes indeed Bazooka.

In my case, I would have had to lie---which I did not. More to come on this topic and my-oh-my will some be surprised. No, on second thought they will not because they are used to their elected, and appointed officials not telling the truth. Most are too stupid to see the truth even when it has bit them right in their butts. Jackasses!

More to come on the elections office soon.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Sun, Sep 20, 2009, at 8:53 AM

OM, you are really good at SAYING (lying) "someone gave you bad info" yet, nothing.

You have insinuated countless times that you have made complaints/accusations of criminal behavior...... yet nothing.

I have asked for you to prove it, how about posting your complaint and response? Not likely. State's AG has no record (so far) from you.

As to the County Election's office, I know you to be the liar you are!!!!!!!!!

I eagerly await your false accusation to be thrown back at you when found to be COMPLETELY INVALID!

Just because you are a moron and can't get your info right doesn't mean you should blame others for YOUR ineptitude. Why not take a page from your book, TAKE RESPONSIBLITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS!!!!!! be ACCOUNTABLE FOR YOUR LIES.mistakes!!!!!!!

I hope you cross the right line and get held accountable for your unfounded hatred, spewing lies and false accusations!
