Dining experiance

Posted Monday, February 14, 2011, at 10:29 PM

I havent written anything here in a long time. I cant help but share with all who may read this what we experianced this evening at a local eating establishment. I may get chastised for mentioning the name of the place, since there was so much hype once it went public that such a place was opening in little ole Mountain Home ID.

Well, I'm going to say that this eater will most likely never step foot into this establishment again. Dare I say the establishment I'm refering to is none other than Wingers. I am not going to complain about the service we recieved from the hostess or our waitress. I'm not going to complain about how long it took to recieve our food after we ordered. So now your asking yourselves, then what is he going to complain about? Well I'll tell ya what my gripe is all about.

We arrived at around 7ish. The hostess was very pleasant and friendly, and we only had to waite about 10 minutes for a table. So far so good. While we were waiting on our table, we noticed that they were advertising a prime rib dinner for valentines day. I thought to myself, that is what I'm going to have. Well, we got to our table and the waitress came to take our order in minimal time for the amount of custemers that were there. I asked for the prime rib and was informed that they had ran out. Now I have been in eating establishments that had run out of certain menu items before, but not at seven in the evening. poor planning on management there I'm thinking. I made a suggestion to the waitress that they probably should remove the special of the day from their sign inside the door.

I had to readjust my thought and decided on the steak and ribs. Sounds like a good meal, after all, it comes with two sides. I asked for a baked potato and some mashed potatoes. I do love potatoes with my meat. When the server brought out our food, I was informed that they were out of baked potatoes (again, it's barely past seven). I may be crazy here, but i would think that is something that should have been mentioned when the waitress took my order to the kitchen, after all, they should have known then that they couldnt fill my order. Well it wasnt until our food was brought out that i was informed of the lack of baked potatoes. Imagine that, running out of bakers in Idaho. Who would have thought. I was offered a differant side in place of my missing baked potato, and that was brought out without haste. I will say that the steak wasnt bad, kinda small, but not bad. It even came with a couple of mushroom pieces and some onions. I didnt asked for them, but they were there. Not a problem as I do enjoy mushrooms and onions with my steak. The mashed potatoes were actuall good. The ribs on the other hand were bland to the taste buds. When I asked about them, i was informed that its not the cooks fault, but the blame should go to the prep people. Ok, Ill buy that. Either way, they werent at all that good.

Now my real complaint here, is the fact that after we finished our meals, paid our bill, and were walking out the door( about 815). Thats when I noticed that the prime rib dinner was still being advertised, even after we were told that had run out. I wonder how many more people were told, sorry we ran out of prime rib. Im not mad that they ran out, it does happen, like I said probably due to poor planning on managements part.

I guess when you live in a small town like Mountain Home, and have few dinning choices, you have to put up with this kind of stuff. Well Im done complaining. Ill just have to scratch Wingers of my list of places to eat. I'll save a couple of extra bucks for gas and take my dinning business to Boise.

I'm ready to be beaten up over the gramatical errors and mispelled words. I'm ok with it. But I cannot recomend this establishment as a place for good eating.
