I've lived in Mtn Home since 1989, so that's...hold on...I'm thinking...WOW! Exactly 25 years! Boy, I think I can almost declare myself an Idahoan. But my family is British and I grew up in Louisiana around lots of other Brits so I still think I'm a little bit of a mutt. Those of you who have been around awhile may remember when I used to blog all the time. My opinions weren't very accepted and there was always an issue because I work for the county. That really wasn't fair because I NEVER blog at work! And I am still entitled to my opinions and thoughts about city and county issues, right? However, it stirred a lot of pots and those pots certainly can make a lot of noise! Since I'm a writer, I took what I wrote in my blog seriously so I spent a lot of time researching things which got exhausting to do when you're not even get a paycheck for it. So I stopped. That was a blessing to many! However, to this day, I still have people stop me and ask me why I wasn't blogging and t! hey missed it. I've missed it. Mainly because there are so many issues that come up and I have no voice except around my friends and I'm sure they are tired of it.

Obama cut some major areas. These dept.or programs are the areas in the new budget that were given an increase:

DOE $26,400,000 to $29,500,000 (12%)

HRSA-Community Health Centers; $2,141,000 to $3,222,000 (50%)

National Health Service Corps; $141,000 to $418,000 (196%)

Disaster relief; $1,600,000, $1,800,000 (13%)

HUD-Choice Neighborhoods; $65,000 to $250,000 (285%)

Homeless Assistance; $1,865,000 to $2,372,000 (27%)

Health & Human-Child Care; $2,127,000 to 2,927,000 (38%)

Headstart; $7,234,000 to $8,100,000 (12%)

Justice-Drug & Mental courts; $45,000 to $57,000 (27%)

Transportation-Highway; $41,107,999 to $69,675,000 (69%)

Federal Transit; $10,730,000 to $22,201,000 (107%)

AMTRAK; $1,583,000 to $4,046,000 (156%)

High-Speed Rail; $2,500,000 to $4,000,000 (60%)

What is up with this massive funds for transportation dept?

Areas that got significant cuts are: (interesting)

Clean water (-55%)

Rural Development (-43%)

Rural Health (-33%)

Mental Health grants (-90%)

Vocational education was cut -21%

USDA Forrest-Rural Schools (-21%)

Justice lost Criminal Alien Assistant (-59%),

Mentally Ill Offender Act (-100%),

JUV justice acct (-34%)

DOT-Airport Improvement (-36%), Essential Air Service (-14%)

OK KIM WERE SHOULD HE CUT???????????? every economist out there has said ....to radical a cut will stop the recovery......Now im not saying were he cut or increased is correct.So what should he cut?????..........hi speed rail is the future considering energy concerns,and we are behind the curve.

Maybe we should just go through the budget and cut all programs that have been interpreted as a federal responsibility by the over streching of the elastic clause.

Well, Homer. I do like to express myself. I just posted the real actual text messages I got from my daughter who left school & protested on Monday. I'm sure that there will be some people not very happy with the conversation that I had with her. Truth is sometimes hard to tell and I struggled with posting it. However, it is the actual text messages and I felt that I needed to share it. Others may not agree with me, but I'm used to that.
