Don't Ask Don't Tell Comments here!

Posted Thursday, December 23, 2010, at 10:07 AM

I wrote about the government raping the lives of people on an island over protecting a bird! You wanted to talk about the "Dont' Ask. don't Tell" as comments so I have given you the blog for that. Repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell had nothing to do with fixing something that was not working. It should have been left alone. The only reason that it ever got changed was to fulfill a promise Obama made. He's had such a problem fulfilling others that he thought he better get this done for the "Gay Rights" group who voted him into office. There are alot of voters who wanted it so He had to make sure this happened. I don't agree with it! But again, it is a sign of the times. This will cause some major lawsuits and major fights, keeping the soldiers focused on this rather than taking care of business. So if you must debate this issue. Please do it here and not completely ignoring the importance of the blog I wrote previously. Thanks. Here are the comments made so far:

Zook, You got that right Sir! and thankfully as more and more of them get "mugged" by their own foolish decisions(stupidity) that political pendulum will swing back to "common sense" which just doesn't seem so common lately.......What did you think of the don't ask don't tell repeal mess recently? I am so thankful that I am retired already that words cant describe it. It still just AMAZES me that these liberal pukes who mostly have never served a day in uniform have decided what is best for the military on this. I intend to let every active duty military person I know that it is now their right to move into the berthing/barracks/dorm room of their choosing so they may cohabitate with whichever member of whichever sex they choose to watch dress/undress and bathe on a daily basis.-- Posted by cant justwatch on Tue, Dec 21, 2010, at 8:24 AM

CJW.............I don't think you wanna KNOW what I think about "don't ask don't tell." Like you, I'm glad I'm retired. But I'm proud to say that even in "politically correct 2010", at least ONE branch commander STOOD UP in opposition to it.............The Commandant of the Marine Corps! I wouldn't want to be one of those "light-in-the-loafers" little twinkletoes trying to make it through Parris Island, or Pendleton, though. Unless things have changed DRASTICALLY since I was in, the Corps still takes care of problems "in-house"---------"don't know WHERE he went"-----------"didn't see nothin'"--------------"He must have gone AWOL." And accidents HAVE been known to happen back there in that swamp. I saw a guy get thrown down two flights of stairs once. And there AREN'T any stairs in a quonset hut! -- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Dec 21, 2010, at 4:55

Do I detect a couple Prejudice people posting on this blog ? Prejudice is a baseless and usually negative attitude toward members of a group-- Posted by MsMarylin on Tue, Dec 21, 2010, at 5:27 PM

MsMarylin, Did you not read what I posted? what was "prejudiced" about that? My believing in EQUAL rights? Sounds to me like you may be a bit bigoted and biased lady. Please take a moment to RE-READ my statement regarding the potential new living arrangements. Am I incorrect in assuming that a heterosexual young male would prefer to watch women dress/undress and bathe rather than another man? Did the laws of nature suddenly flip and I missed it? If you are a gay female who would you rather watch undress? G.I Joe or Angelina Jolie? seems pretty simple to me, nothing "prejudiced" about that at all, just plain old EQUAL maybe you should look it up in the dictionary or if you need help let me know I will find it online and cut and paste it here for you to read.-- Posted by cant justwatch on Tue, Dec 21, 2010, at 9:50 PM

I understand, as a woman, that I could never fully understand how a heterosexual retired soldier would feel towards a gay soldier. However, BaZooka, I would never support any violence against another soldier.-- Posted by kimkovac

MsMarilyn...........I never said I SUPPORTED it...........but in an outfit as tight as OURS is/was......lives depend on each other, and when it is felt that somebody isn't "one of us".......well, things HAVE happened. I cannot speak accurately for the 2010 Marine Corps, but in MY day, we were NEVER "PC". An outfit as small as ours HAD to be focused to survive and win. NOTHING was "Gospel" unless it came down from the "Gunny." I personally find it REPULSIVE, that the yellow slimebags who have never served, can decide "what's best for our military." NOBODY ever asked the TROOPS how THEY felt........But, what the heck..........trillion-dollar un-read bills have been passed under the same scenario..........doesn't matter what the people want. And shades of Jimmy Carter's SALT II..........."WE and the Russians will BOTH cut back our weaponry........" RIGHT!! I guess we can trust PUTIN better than we could Brehznev, eh? AGAIN...............we've learned nothing, and are being sold out once more. Every "Republican" who caved in to this should be impeached and thrown into "Tent City" with Sheriff Joe.-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Dec 22, 2010, at 4:25 PM

It would be like if the famed Boston Pops Philharmonic Orchestra, were forced to allow some hard rock, obscene, lewd bunch of street musical upstarts to play at Carneige Hall with them. The music doesn't fit, the message doesn't fit, and the quality of musicians already WITH the "Pops" DON'T want to hit a note with these characters...........but "political correctness" demands that you lower your standards and ALLOW them in the orchestra whether you want to or not.

With so much resentment, some of the REAL musicians start to walk out.

What happens to our military, if we start losing some of our BEST people, because they don't want to share a bunker with "drag queens?"

Want an even BETTER reason????? How'd you like to be a WOUNDED soldier, and need a pint of blood before you can even be transported out.........and the medics get it from some "gay" soldier who might be HIV-Positive, and may not even know it HIMSELF!

In the trenches----------where you MUST stay focused, or get killed............your "buddy" off to the side of you...........is he watching your back, or watching your butt? There is no place for perverts in combat zones, and it's an awful price to pay just to be "2010" stylish.

Darned few politicians back there today, have ever served in our military, and that number is dwindling. They have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS making attrocious decisions that were just made.

"Berkeley and Barracks" might both start with the letter "B"............but they have nothing else in common!

They don't even HONOR our HEROES! Did anybody watch that fiasco at the White House the other day, over that Medal of Honor Recipient? Family and friends were in the THIRD row behind Obama. Men who fought WITH him in that fight were shelved off to the side-seating section. But DIRECTLY behind Obama, RIGHT UP FRONT FOR THE CAMERAS.........IN THE FIRST TWO ROWS,,,,,, taking the bows and applause, were TWO ROWS of Democratic politicians!

As if THEY had done something! The VETS and their families were put in the BACK! Disgraceful.

The repeal of "Don't ask don't tell" isn't without SOME merit though..........it SHOULD make a dent in the Defense Budget spending. Lace curtains and make-up, don't cost as much as rifles and bullets.

The Commandant of the Marine Corps, (the ONLY one who stood defiantly against this stupid decision), didn't go far enough.

Had it been ME, I'd have jerked every unit out of there, brought 'em back stateside, and told WASHINGTON to stuff it! If they're going to RUN it..........let THEM FIGHT IT!

As a commander, I would NOT sacrifice the morale, safety and well-being of my troops just to appease some campaign promise.

War readiness is a serious business. These jokers in D.C. do NOT have to fight, and as Lamont and I discussed over the phone the other day, most of their "ELITE" SONS don't have to fight either!

EVERY Service Branch Chief should stand UP to Washington and tell them flat out--------------"Don't tell ME who I have to take!"

"You carpetbaggers don't play the game...............you don't make the rules!"

No civilian should EVER be allowed to call any military shots, where good men and women are fighting and dying. No "books, journals or college courses" make you an expert on "what's good for the military!

If you haven't had to get off your butt, adhere to military discipline, shoulder a pack & rifle, go off to some h---hole somewhere and RISK IT ALL on a daily basis------------you haven't got a CLUE of what you're talking about!

YOU KNOW NOTHING!...........ABSOLUTELY NOTHING............"Mr. Bureaucrat!"

How DARE you come into MY HOUSE and tell me how to live!

And that's exactly what they just did with our armed forces...............that we ALL have to depend on!

DISGUSTING.............and the MEDAL of HONOR's family gets to sit 3 rows behind Pelosi & crowd!

What's even MORE shameful and sickening, is that MOST Americans have become so "numbed" and impervious from all the crap that continually flows our way-----------a lot of us don't BEGIN to realize what we are about to sacrifice just to be "trendy!"

I'm glad I'm retired.

Don't miss the next thrilling episode of the "Great American Sellout."

If you enjoyed "Gays with Guns", and "Missiles for Moscow", you're sure to THRILL to Washington's next sequel......"AMNESTY FOR ALL"....directed by Harry Reid, co-starring Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and a cast of MILLIONS!

It's the highest dollar movie ever made, and will leave the audience breathless, speechless, and PENNILESS! Rated XXX and coming soon to a theater in YOUR town! Don't miss it!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Fri, Dec 24, 2010, at 7:34 AM

I have nothing against gays in the army. In fact, I don't mind it at all. They're preserving our freedom by putting their lives on the line. I'm not going to sit here like most of the people on Mountainhomenews and whine about everything. Specially when it comes to Obama, get over it. Plain and simple.

-- Posted by CharlesHarris on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 3:31 PM

And who did YOU serve with, Charles?

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 3:41 PM

Doesn't matter who I serve with, unlike some people I tend to focus on the more relevant things. Like going home and getting the job done, rather than being narrow-minded like so many people. Maybe they should send home the people who are getting troubled and awkward, I feel safe when I know someones got my back. I, beyond any doubt, think those people are more of a interruption than people who are gay. So I'm glad that you two retired, now I won't have to worry about getting shot because you two were to focused on someone's else sexuality then getting the job done. (:

-- Posted by CharlesHarris on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 5:24 PM

PS.....this isn't about OBAMA. He's a typical liberal, and we've ALWAYS known where HE stood on the gay issue (and if I have the "count correct, the gay issue is the only campaign promise he HAS kept!)-----MY problem on the gay issue is with the worthless, yellow-belly vermin in CONGRESS who went along with this.

It was THEY who made that that bill POSSIBLE to sign in the first place! He couldn't have done it without THEM. The dirtiest shame, sadly came from OUR side, the 13 "REPUBLICANS" who signed off on it. There is absolutely no excuse nor explanation for ANYBODY in the GOP to go along with this!

"Plain & simple" eh?

It's pretty "plain" that the only thing "SIMPLE", are all you liberals out there who continue to support and condone the dismantling of this country!

Terrorism is spreading like wildfire around the globe----------the government is trying to infest us with MORE illegals, the borders are wide open, we're making consessions to the RUSSIANS now, the Saudis are coming, there's an open-invitation out now welcomming all the fruitcakes to openly infest the ranks, REAL heroes are being shoved to the back while politicians get the accelades, Arizonians can't even use some of their own National PARKLAND because of the illegal drug cartels on OUR side of the border, that Holder won't lift a finger to stop while he presses his lawsuit against the WRONG PEOPLE! THIS COUNTRY IS BEING SOLD OUT FROM UNDER US, on a weekly basis now, and that's just fine and friggin' DANDY with YOU "lefties", isn't it!

After doing very little ABOVE BOARD over the first 2 years, they've suddenly passed a lot of legislation in a very short period of time......to do all the damage they could before the clock ran out," I KNEW they would and I SAID SO!

"Get over it, eh?"

We'll get over it..........in 2012!

(Actually.... don't take any of this personally--------------I'm really HOTTER at the Republicans who signed onto this, than I am at YOUR side.-----OUR side of the aisle is EXPECTED to know better, and rest assured, those 13 pieces of RINO dung will feel the Tea-Party heat in the 2012 primaries, those of them who will be up for re-election!)

Makes me sick to THINK about it!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 5:32 PM

"Doesn't matter who you serve with", eh?

Yeah. that's exactly what I thought.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 5:36 PM

I'm on neither side, do what you guys do best. Lets see who makes the country sink lower, most likely its going to be both sides. This blame game is gone as long as it should. Quite frankly, I'm tired of it. It makes more sick to see this "United States" so divided. There's nothing "United" about these states. I use to be proud of this country, but reality sank in.

-- Posted by CharlesHarris on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 5:51 PM

The last time we "did what we do BEST," we had control of BOTH houses, and made an economic HERO out of "Slick Willie," which nobody ever gives us credit for.

The time before THAT, we elected an old man with fortitude, and the Ayatollah released "Carter's hostages." We bombed Khadafi, took care of Grenada almost overnight, and made "Mr. Gorbechev TEAR DOWN THAT WALL.!" He kissed nobody's butt and made no concessions, and for eight years, NOBODY used our flag as a doormat!

"The BLAME GAME?".............OPEN YOUR EYES, DUDE.........it's right there OUT IN THE OPEN!

Prior to the last two years, when was the last time the government TOOK OVER private industry?

When was the last time our citizens were warned to stay OUT of their own parks due to CRIMINAL INVASION?

When was the last time you ever heard of one of our own states being SUED for defending itself?

When was the last time people were threatened with FINES if they didn't "buy into something?"

When was the last time the House Speaker of EITHER party got up in front of the world, and said we need to pass an UNREAD TRILLION dollar BILL "SO we can find out what's IN it?" (THIS is the kind of mentality that's in charge back there).

Aside from Carter, when was the last time we caved-in to the Russians?

This isn't finger-pointing, Charles...........it's been happening for the last TWO years.

No.........it's not all on Obama........the President........ANY President, only has limited things he can do. It's a "group effort", and thank God at least SIXTY of 'em are gonna be gone next year.

"Let's see who makes the country sink LOWER?" How much lower can we SINK?, and everything I listed above has happened in just the past two years............that isn't finger-pointing------it's a matter of record!

You're right about the blame game..........it NEEDS to stop. This is no longer "Bush's mess." HASN'T been for some time, although you wouldn't know it.

I do NOT exclude the Republicans either. We DID manage to cut out some "dead weight" in our primaries, but we didn't get 'em ALL, and there are still at least a dozen MORE who need firing. If the Dems would have at least JOINED us by cutting out some of THEIR bums, it would be a better Congress that's convening next month.

True...........we are NOT United. Letting this country fall into socialism is not something the "right" will EVER find any "middle ground" on. Nor will I. Those who believe in our Constitution in its ENTIRETY and DEFINITELY not "united" with those who want to give it all away and bill the taxpayers for it to boot!

We're being sold out. If you don't or can't see that, you WILL when people who barely speak our language end up having more rights than YOU do.....and we're almost there now,

Finally.........my old buddy Lamont and I "agree to dis-agree" on a lot of issues.........and it makes for healthy debate.

But both he & I, along with a TON of other Veterans do not look fondly on allowing "outsiders onto our flightlines," screwing with our people.

The G.I., by definition, is a very special breed. He is a true patriot........willing to do what MOST will not.

You'll never see long lines at any recruiting office. Most who graduate do not enlist. There's a REASON for that, and it comes from within.

Yet, it always seems like those who lack the self-discipline and the GUTS, are always the FIRST ones to complain about how good the military people have it, how good the retirement is and all the rest of the crap they really know nothing about, and of course, they ALL seem to know what's "Best", being the "armchair Rambo's" that they are.

But NONE of them are rushing down there, to SIGN UP AND GET IN ON ALL THIS GOOD STUFF! I wonder why not?

In uniform, your life is never your own. Your time is never your own. There's no such thing as "time & a half", and until each enlistment is up, you can't give anybody your "2-week notice."

You're JERKED OUT from your family and sent off to wherever the CRAP is, often with no notice at all. The hours are long. Thanksgivings and Christmases often go by un-noticed. You're expected to stay spit-shined, INCLUDING your CHARACTER and steadily be a sterling example for the public. If you get a ticket in town, you get popped again on base. Your individuality is GONE, but you knew that when you signed up, and were still willing to SERVE, and die if need be.

If you live on base, you'll keep your lawn to THEIR standards, not yours. You keep YOURSELF to their standards, not yours.

Depending on your branch of service, and "job", you find yourself to be EXPENDABLE if need be. Ever had to live where you didn't want to be and gotten SHOT AT every two or three days, Charles? And then come home to a "grateful public" that spits at you for doing what they're too YELLOW to do themselves. Oh yeah, they're all college-indoctrinated "experts."

And even TODAY.........a soldier is killed, and a bunch of PINKOS have the GALL to picket his FUNERAL SERVICE with the family grieving.

A military career is the longest, toughest, most ungratifying twenty-plus years you'll ever put in, and those who've been willing to do it so the WIMPS don't HAVE to, are of a special cut of human being.

THAT my friend, is why it should be up to the military ITSELF...........ITSELF...........to decide who they want standing beside them in the trenches...............NOT a bunch of draft-dodging PUKES whose money & influence got them into politics, and out of the draft that we no longer have.

During our conversation the other day, Lamont brought that up...........that the draft SHOULD be re-instated--------and I couldn't agree MORE! We are HEAVILY together on that same sheet of paper!

Like I said earlier, I'm BLESSED to be retired from active duty now.............because if I was still IN, and they ran this "homosexual game" up under me, I'd end up either court-martialled, or in jail,........or BOTH!

Yes.......there HAVE been gays in the military, and either beaten up or thrown out when they're caught.

There have been COMMUNISTS in this country too, but that doesn't make it "ok" to make laws that we HAVE TO ACCEPT THEM among us!

Charles.......everytime there's a need..........there are those who are willing to fight and die so YOU DON'T HAVE TO.........

I think the LEAST our country can do for them is to NOT dictate how they must live, who they must take, or anything ELSE to jeopardize the morale of those whose JOB it is to protect the rest of us.

Unless YOU'D rather go do it!

I HAVE............and it ain't fun. Trust me, you wouldn't like it.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sat, Dec 25, 2010, at 10:41 PM

It's Sunday morning, and I just re-read what I posted last night.

This is pointless. It isn't even worth it. I can't believe I'm even wasting my time on this kind of crap anymore.

This country is probably too far gone now, to fix it using the system that's already broken. It's gonna take another "1776", which won't happen until the "citizens" finally figure it out, that they're being turned into "SUBJECTS."

As for me, I'm kind of like old "Uncle Ronnie." I'll bow to NOBODY, nor kiss anybody's butt. I will die on my feet, before I'll live on my knees. But THIS time it WILL be for a just cause.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Sun, Dec 26, 2010, at 8:28 AM

POST-NOTE-----------I'd better get back to my own blog. Everytime I stray off into 2010, I just get heated, heated, and MORE heated! It's turning into a coast-to-coast freak show.

As I've often said........I grew up with Roy Rogers, Nehi Orange, '57 Chevys and Wolfman Jack.

I don't understand ANY of this!

I think we're done. It's just a matter of survival now.

Hey bazookaman, I guess a big thank you is in order. You have stated many times that you are big supporter of Ron Paul and Walt Minnick. You have stated that you have voted / supported them and even written letters on their behave. Well thank you sweetheart. your support of these gentlemen was instrumental in repealing the DADT policy that was put in place by Bill Clinton.

I certainly wouldn't have thought THAT of Paul. On the positive side though, I DID vote for Simpson and Crapo, who OPPOSED it. And the presdential team I voted for in 2008, would NEVER have signed it if it DID reach THEIR desks.

Of course, neither would THEY have signed unread----under-the-table bills either. As much as I don't particularly care for McCain, even HE wouldn't have caved in to the Russians or sued his own home state for trying to enforce a law the Feds will not.

But my basic position is unchanged, and will NEVER change. Only the military itself should be allowed to decide this. Anyone who has NEVER served, shouldn't even be entitled to an OPINION on something like this.

In terms of human endeavors and sacrifice, the armed forces are a pretty exclusive club, and it SHOULD be THEY who set their own standards. Not the yellow-bellied pukes who duck, dodge and hide so they don't have to.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Dec 28, 2010, at 2:48 PM

It's probably just as well that I'm not the Marine Corps Commandant, because I'd have gone a HUGE step FURTHER, than just be the "sole protester" among the Joint Chiefs.

I'd have loaded a string of 6x6's with M-16's, flakvests, helmets and ammo, enough for everybody in the White House and every member of Congress.

I would THEN have taken all of those keys to the Oval Office, handed them to the President and graciously said.........."With all due respect, sir, YOU GUYS WANNA MICRO-MANAGE OUR BUSINESS FOR US??.................EVERYTHING YOU NEED IS SITTING RIGHT OUTSIDE!"

Then I'd throw my resignation on his desk, and walk out the door. (Prior TO that, I'd have ordered every regimental and division commander to pack the troops up and head home). No need to get anymore GOOD men killed for nothing. We did that once before.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Dec 28, 2010, at 3:20 PM

PS to Pale Ale........

I'm glad you made that post. I hadn't seen the actual name roster. The numbers of Dems versus the number of Repubs certainly was no surprise, except WHO'd have thought there'd be as many as 15?

Ron Paul's reversal was a RECENT one, though, and he was NOT aligned with the liberals back when he was running in 2008. He is now officially OFF "My List" for good.

And this is a major difference between most right-wingers and most left-wingers.

A whole LOT of us won't "stick" with a candidate just because he's of the same party. Ron Paul has a lot of good ideas about getting rid of the Federal bureacracy, and I hope he's successful on that end of it, but he'll have to do it SHY at least ONE Vote if he runs for the White House.

That "fruitcake vote" was a SELLOUT of our military, and it'll cost him the next time he runs in a primary down there.

But that heavily lopsided vote just backs-up that bumper sticker you see sometimes on rightwing pickup trucks & cars..................."Gay? Liberal? Anti-Gun?.........The Democrats want YOU!"

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Dec 28, 2010, at 6:57 PM

Bazooka,

Could you maybe type all of your comments, save them to your computer, not post them on here and instead publish a book?? Sheesh!

-- Posted by bloodyknuckles on Wed, Dec 29, 2010, at 8:33 AM

You know, Pale Ale, it's not a crime to make an error in judgement from time to time. If you're human, you DO.

In the final analogy, I had apparently mis-read Ron Paul--------(on THIS subject, anyway), and for me, it overrides all the good things he's tried to do, because THIS one is a "biggie" in my book, and after 22 years of active duty, it hits very close to home.

But unlike the average Democrat, I've never been too proud to admit a mistake (although my PAST Ron Paul support was NOT a mistake at the time, because the Feds DO need to be brought back under the people).

But when they decide to go AGAINST the grain, I no longer stand with them, just because we're in the same party. That's NOT a good enough reason for me.

With the libs...."blood's thicker than water------and we'll somehow find a way to DEFEND and JUSTIFY OUR crooked ones." You KNOW that's true.

So, Pale Ale.......I may have gone to bat for a couple of dudes who later went down the wrong street on us------but at least I didn't CONTINUE to support them AFTER THE FACT.

There are those of you out there who have watched an ENTIRE REGIME dismantle this country. Lie, cheat and steal.......Men and women who are dedicated and determined to turn this once great Republic into a socialist state, and STILL you people BACK them! Were it ME, I couldn't sleep at night.

Many of you on the left KNOW deep down inside that this current government is a massive mistake, and you hope that through some miracle it's going to somehow straighten out, and you guys will appear to have been right all along.........while the nation continues to suffer.

Much of it is a matter of ptide now-----------saving face. Through stubborn pride and little else, a lot of you people out there would rather let the country die, than admit (even if only to yourselves) that YOU made an error in judgement TOO, (as I did with Paul & Minnick), and start thinking, working and VOTING for the good of your COUNTRY, not your party.

Considering the amount of FORTITUDE that would require, I seriously doubt it'll ever happen.

Minnick wasn't ALL that much of a surprise. Although he HAS done some good things, he's still a Democrat so when it came right down to it...............

Ron Paul WAS a surprise. He's been one of the very few back there to actually stand up AGAINST the Federal bureaucracy, but he just lost MY respect, and my vote if it ever beoomes a presidential matter.

I WON'T defend him............like YOU guys would if it was Harry Reid or Chuck Schumer who went the "wrong way" against YOU guys.

You guys would support Charles Manson, as long as he was a registered (D). I'd be curious to know which party has the most "Lifelong career" senators and congressman back there. Old crocks like Kennedy, Murtha and Byrd, had to DIE, before the taxpayers were rid of THEM.

Surpringly though, PENNSYVANIA was thinking this past year and had the good sense to get rid of Specter!

Maybe there's a glimmer of hope SOMEWHERE!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Dec 29, 2010, at 9:04 AM

bloodyknuckles...........people don't READ books today. They watch "Dancing with the Stars", videogames and Avatar movies.

That's just ONE of the reasons we ARE where we ARE.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Dec 29, 2010, at 9:07 AM

PS..........I write the way I write.

You can always scroll down PAST it! Many probably DO, and I'm not the least bit offended!

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Dec 29, 2010, at 3:22 PM

True not all errors in judgement are crimes. If people learn from their errors there is hope. However, witnessing a violation of the UCMJ and not reporting it is a crime.

When your letters are screened and there are no telephones, it's pretty hard to report anything, wouldn't you think?-------------that's the technical side.

REALITY side, is that if you're gonna be "one of the few", you learn to think in terms of responsibility, and how a simple screw-up can get a whole outfit wiped out. A guy who CONSISTENTLY screws up.......and EVERYBODY ELSE continues to have to PAY for it.......needs an "attention-getter."..........better HERE then at a landing in some far-off hostile land, when it "counts for points!"

The Marine Corps isn't some civilian-type outfit. They don't deal in pity and sympathy and there aren't any "encounter groups" or social science think-tank seminars.

Training down there is what it is, because of the mission. One who has never been, needs to understand something. The Marine Corps, by nature and by mission, is almost ALWAYS the FIRST ones sent in. It is the smallest branch in number of personnel. Operating from the Navy budget, it is also the POOREST-equipped. The Corps does NOT have the number of divisions and regiments to rely on for backup that the Army has. It does NOT have airpower available to it that the Air Force and Navy do.............and once the aquids land us on the beaches and the LST's return to the mother ships, we're basically "on our own" in most cases.

That's why "screw-ups" were dealt with by whatever means necessary to straighten a situation before it turned into a BIGGER one at the WRONG TIME.

If there WAS some "quick, easy way" to REPORT somebody-------"OOH-OOH-OOH......I'm TELLIN' on YOU!!"...........Nobody in OUR outfit would have.

Nobody wants to get killed, Pale Ale, because of some bonehead who doesn't pay attention, or lacks the disipline to be a team player. So these characters are weeded out in "peacetime."

.............in 1966, anyway.

Tomorrow, if some D.I. so much as raises his voice and causes some kind, gentle soul to weep through his eye-liner, the ACLU will probably bring charges up on that same D.I. for "emotional distress" or some such foolishness.

REAL Marines don't rat on their brothers. If you can't handle it, you should have joined one of the other branches.

I would LIKE to think that the Corps will disregard the White House, and REMAIN its own outfit. Probably NOT, though. Seems like NOTHING is "sacred" in this country anymore.

I STAYED OUT OF THIS UNTIL NOW BECAUSE I THOUGHT SOMEONE WOULD REALIZE WHAT THEY WERE SAYING.

THEY WILL SERVE WITH HONOUR......THEY WILL BE RIDICULED..........THEY WILL SUFFER IN SILENCE.....THEY WILL OVERCOMPENSATE.........THEY WILL SOLDIER WITH THE BEST OF THEM...........HOW DO I KNOW?????????? I LIVED IT,EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN SAID WAS SAID ABOUT THE SERVICESES BEING INTERGRATED..........DONT BELIEVE ME GO BACK AND CHECK THE WRITTINGS ABOUT IT..........ILL WAIT.

THIS regime LIES ,CHEATS AND STEALS.......I REALLY GET TIRED OF THAT ONE..........LIE NO.1 iraq HAS WMD........WE ARE STILL LOOKING...........LIE NO.2 THIS REGIME STEALS.......HALLIBURTON NO BID CONTRACTS WORTH BILLIONS TO DO WHAT G.I.DO....MAIL,COOK.BUILD TEMPORARY SHELTER ETC............LIE NO. 3 CHEAT >>>>>>>>THE IRAQUES GOVERNMENT HAS TAKEN MILLIONS OUT OF THE COUNTRY,CHEATING THERE OWN PEOPLE.......LIE NO4....MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ......OR MAYBE THAT WASNT A LIE,THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAVE BEEN HAD.........THE MARINE CO COMMANDANT HAS A DUTY TO STATE HIS POSITION HE ALSO HAS A DUTY TO OBEY HIS ORDERS AS DOES EVERYONE UNDER HIS COMMAND,THERE IS NO DOUGHT THAT HE WILL.......,DUTY HONOUR COUNTRY....COME FIRST.....THATS WHAT MAKES US WHAT WE ARE

-- Posted by lamont on Mon, Jan 3, 2011, at 7:26 PM

Of course they never found any WMD's..........when you tell them MONTHS AHEAD that you're coming to inspect.........it'd be like if Rick Lahyer got a tip on someone running a meth lab here in town..........then he serves notice that they're coming to raid the place in March. If Saddam DID have them, he had enough time to move that crap to Tibet before our guys ever showed up!

Oh, absolutely..........Haliburton, Iraq...........it's been going on for awhile now. But wasn't that all supposed to change, under this new "transparent" government? Everything above board.......

Yeah, the Commandant spoke his peace, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if he resigns. They just fired that Naval submarine commander for running those porn movies aboard ship, and "gay-bashing." It's all over the news right now, and MAY involve several other commanders as well.

THAT should serve as at least a small indication of where the "FIELD Commanders" stand on it. I still maintain that THIS issue should be decided by the military itself. Not the bureaucrats.

It reminds me of a story about the Pope giving a great seminar in the Vatican Square. He's up on his parapit preaching to the Roman masses about sex...........celibacy before marriage, and condemning the use of birth control measures DURING marriage........

Out of the crowd, one of the Italians out there yells up........"Hey POPE!!.........You no play-a-the game---------you no make-a-the rules!"

But the lies, cheating and stealing?.......I'm right with you, buddy------been going on for awhile now. The difference I guess, is that all that "business as usual" crap was supposed to STOP, and it was a HUGE part of the campaign.

I know it's politics, but the voters DO tend to take you at your word. The press went after Bush for Haliburton and the Tea Parties went after the Dems for Fannie & Freddie. The press went after Bush for the WMD and the Repubs went after Obama for the closed-door ANTI-transparency deals.

When they passed the un-read Healthcare Bill "so we could find out what was IN it" (Pelosi), we find out now that IN-FACT, taxpayer money WILL be used to fund abortions.

Most if not ALL politicians are crooks, on both sides. No question there. But you've GOT to be careful what you promise here in the age of videotape, which the press (on either side) will use against you LATER if it's advantageous.

One man by himself, cannot fix the economy. One man by himself cannot change Washington politics. One man by himself cannot bring about an honorable victory in a war.

Barack Obama is a well-educated man, who SHOULD have realized before he ever threw his hat in the ring, that if you can't get the Congress rolling WITH you, you can't count on ANYTHING..........so it's not a good idea to be putting DEADLINES on how soon you're gonna close GITMO. You can't force companies to hire, so when you promise 8% unemployment within the first two years, and it climbs instead to 10%.............you can't control that--------and probably shouldn't have gone out on that limb.

Transparency--------"everything's gonna be live on C-SPAN so the public can see their government at work." Instead, they virtually shut one side out and pass 2,000 pages of bills that nobody reads. What the public heard during the campaign was "transparency" and "C-SPAN"

There's a laundry list of broken promises. NOW...........had McCAIN won, he would STILL have had to fight with a Democratic Congress, and UNDOUBTEDLY would have dropped the ball in a dozen places. John McCain might ALSO be facing the 14 Trillion dollar debt that Obama is facing.

But during the campaign, McCain was luke-warm, and went out on NO limbs, that might have come back to haunt him later.

Voters were ANGRY with Bush.........and had every RIGHT to be. People wanted change, and the more that was promised, the more excited everyone got. President Obama ran a first-class, SUPERB campaign.. Maybe a little "too" superb.

An awful lot of people in this country do NOT understand how the government works, Lamont. Because every press camera is trained on the PRESIDENT, a LOT of folks think it is HE who makes all of the decisions.........so when a candidate PROMISES SPECIFICS which are sore campaign subjects, very few remember later on, that he COULDN'T keep his promise on account of the Congress.......

"Well.........OBAMA said.............BUSH said..............CLINTON said........."------THIS, is what most people remember.

Voters in this country are so hot over the last 10 years or so, about EVERY issue, You darned sure BETTER watch what you promise when you're going after votes. In the 21st century, every penny is an issue, and if you aren't 100% SURE you can deliver on something, you'd better not PROMISE it before the press's videocameras.

Amidst it all, Obama neglected to preceed his remarks with five magic little words........................"If I HAVE MY WAY....."

But to stand up there and proclaim "95% of Americans WILL NOT pay one more penny of tax.", and "Americans WILL see their government as they make decisions."........"We WILL lower the unemployment rate and create X-numbers of millions of jobs.............and etc..

Man, you don't say things like that, ESPECIALLY using numbers and deadlines, when you DON'T know if your Congress is going to help you or not. Man, you leave yourself wide open, and VIDEOTAPE is not your best friend.

These past two years I think, were also complicated by Congressional in-decision.

On PAPER anyway, the president SHOULD have been able to write his own ticket. He had an entirely filibuster-proof majority in both Houses. The GOP was virtually POWERLESS for two years. Every leftwing bill SHOULD have been a "slam-dunk!"-------------I mean, WHO was gonna STOP anything?

Maybe that was what the President was thinking while on the campaign trail------that EVERY fellow Democrat would "automatically" be on board with whatever he wanted to do. But they fought and bickered with each other instead. THAT doesn't inspire confidence with the voters either. And they can't honestly claim "gridlock."..................with WHO? The Dems have essentially had the POWER to do ANYTHING it wanted, UN-OPPOSED, over these past two years.

Obama hasn't made anymore mistakes than several others before him...........he just flashed the smile and personality------(which was cool)---------but he TOLD all of us what he was GOING to do.....what WOULD happen...........etc. But he forgot to check his "ammo supply" before he "launched the offensive."

Congress didn't come WITH him on several things, and left him out there to get sniped at.

Hey Lamont............meant to ask you........did you hear about that guy in Arizona that just did this "honor-killing" of his own daughter under "sharia law?"

What do you think? Is it "ok" because it's traditional in his own country, or is it NOT "ok" because the crime was committed here?

How do you think that's gonna go?

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Jan 4, 2011, at 6:48 PM

I THINK YOUR COMMENTARY WAS SPOT ON FOR THE MOST PART.I also think that the captain (col) of that aircraft carrier will be relieved which he was, today. He was a fool who did not deserve command.

THIS i KNOW THIS IS AMERICA.....SHARIA LAW does not count for anything.....he should get the

DEATH PENALTY (premedatation) HE WILL GET LIFE WITHOUT PAROLE. HE may be seeking understanding for his customs, but he has been here long enough to understand our laws and thats the way it is. I would have to go back and ck but i think the daughter was born here, therefore he killed an american citezen.

On the other subject i hope that the intention is to work consructively but the rhetoric is not saying that.THE problem with that is while they argue and play polotics you and i will continue to pay dearly....I think that the average AMERICAN IS IN REAL TROUBLE.......THEY WILL BE SLAVES TO THE CORPORATIONS WITH NO SAFE GUARDS OR RECOURSE........IF YOU HAVNT ALREADY MADE IT YOU WONT........ILL SAY IT AGAIN CORPORATE AMERICA HAS NO NATIONAL ALLEGIANCE AND IT WILL BE OUR DOWNFALL...some right wing economist are saying the same.............MY CONCLUSIONS......WE SHALL SEE VERY SHORTLY some key things have to happen no matter who holds power.........TALK IS CHEAP.....some body should shut BACHMAN UP/,,,,,,,that woman is so counterproductive and in left field its pathetic

gotta go have a good one

You know,I'd feel a lot better if we had more new guys and less old ones in there on both sides. Two terms are more than enough. If the president only gets two, what makes these Congressmen and Senators so special that they can be in there for LIFE, if they can keep getting re-elected?

The biggest problem with "career politicians" is that after enough time goes by, they have totally lost touch with the common man. These old carpetbaggers don't "feel our pain."............all THEY feel is the champagne on their throats at the big parties, and the salt spray of the water from their sailboats on the weekends------------at OUR expense, of course.

That's why I've said repeatedly that "They ALL need to go!"

I'm particularly going to watch John Boenner. He said he didn't want any part of Nancy Pelosi's new airliner----------that "DELTA was good enough for him." If he holds to that, it will at least be a good indication that HE is serious about taking the lead in cutting extravagences.

This next year is gonna be INTERESTING for sure. The Dems still hold the Senate and the veto-power of the White House, so the Repubs still won't be able to get everything done that THEY want, either. I think BOTH sides are gonna have to learn to "play nice together" or there'll be ANOTHER "Big November" for ALL concerned in 2012, because the voting public has pretty much had it now.

We'll see!

Later, Bro!

i dont know about you ZOOK but I thought boenner should have been at the memorial service, but thats just me i thought he was conspicously absent

just a thought.........some how the words career poletician dont ring right.....i have always been for term limits.......they loose touch with reality, yours and mine. and i dont care what side of the aisle there on......got to go ......... my grandaughters are on base got to visit......see ya

-- Posted by lamont on Sat, Jan 15, 2011, at 4:23 PM

Oh...........about Boenner........he may have felt there was enough representation from D.C. already.

I would LIKE to think that he was at his desk in Washington, doing what we're PAYING him to do. He said he would hit the ground with his sleeves rolled up. We'll see if he does.

I've lived in Mtn Home for over 20 years. I love my city and my country. Since I am a writer, my decision to blog here seemed appropriate. I enjoy acting so I've been blessed with the opportunity to work on some independent films and with Prairie Dog Productions and Bogus Creek Ranch. I hope that something I have to write about has some value for others or just amuses someone.
