What I would sayPosted Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at 8:12 AM
When you think of what makes you proud of someone, what would your list be? Successful? Thrifty? Honest? Trustworthy? Kind? Thoughtful? Yes, all of those are wonderful words that would describe a person to be proud of. Today, I read that while Obama was walking the Great Wall of China, he was thoughtful and putting life into perspective. This would seem to mean that he was making a measured assessment of a situation or possibly formulating a real view on life. One can only hope he was making some real decisions on his own. As I reviewed that picture in my mind, I remembered writing about the Character of a President at the beginning of the Obama reign. Again I am reminded of how precious a person of good character is. The Bible describes such a person as being worth more than rubies. You can't put a price on it. I wish that I could be walking with Obama for just a moment of time and be able to whisper my thoughts for today in his ear. Here is what I would say.
Mr. President, please think of what Theodore Roosevelt said. "Character, in the long run, is the decisive factor in the life of an individual and of nations alike." The Character of a Nation is priceless. America has been known for being a nation of people with tremendous character. Despite having a leader who seems to think otherwise, while globetrotting and bowing and apologizing to every nation of the world. One would have to re-evaluate the Character of a Nation that had so much to apologize for. World Leaders must look at us with distrust rather than envy. I have felt such a profound shift in the view of the world on my country, lately. And I have to wonder how vulnerable we are becoming to losing the good character our forefathers established for us and our good people of our past cultivated. We were strength and now we are weak and begging for forgiveness. Exposing our necks to the dog packs of other nations. What kind of Character do you wish to have? Think on this, Mr. President. "What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us." Ralph Waldo Emerson. Character is a legacy that we leave behind. We are responsible for what kind of Character we leave for the future generations based on what we do today. We must be a nation of people who possess all the richness of Character. Think on these: Honest, Reverent, Hopeful, Thrifty, Humble, Compassionate, Sincere, Trustworthy, Hard Working, Courageous, Responsible, Loyal and Kind. Grasp these and leave these traits as a legacy. I've lived in Mtn Home for over 20 years. I love my city and my country. Since I am a writer, my decision to blog here seemed appropriate. I enjoy acting so I've been blessed with the opportunity to work on some independent films and with Prairie Dog Productions and Bogus Creek Ranch. I hope that something I have to write about has some value for others or just amuses someone.

You out there who voted for "change".......you'll get it..............about 35 cents from where a ten dollar bill used to be.
What I believe in, is our Constitution. As an AMERICAN and a taxpayer, I expect our "leaders" to follow it, and refuse to respect nor follow those who don't.
"The Shadow" knew a damned sight MORE than the fools who voted for, and continue to support this communist regime we're dealing with today.
The same pack of jackals that are selling us all out tonight on the senate floor if they can.........even stooping to offer MORE of our tax dollars to bribe a few more votes from the undecided.
This is the biggest collection of corrupt pukes the U.S. Congress has ever had, and the most gullible, blind-sided populace.

More Nostalgia fear for you who believe in conspiracy. Martin Dies the pre-mccarthy-ist speaking on ye old radio. gather around folks and enjoy, because the shadow knows.
I've written about that on multiple occasions.............how sometimes the guy in the "other' party has a better track record of voting for things that YOU would.............than "your guy" does.
I can't think of anything more ignorant, than blindly walking into a booth and voting "R" or "D", without knowing where EACH candidate stands on the issues.
Just because he/she is a registered Democrat or Republican, doesn't make them "One of US"
That is part of the problem with this world. People do not do research and seek out the facts before they vote. Many go off what their friends tell them or a party line, etc. As adults we should be more hands on with respect to things that could change our lives. We are a nation of people who think "someone else will take care of it" and are generally uninvolved (many people not all people mind you). Then when things go to heck in a hand basket nobody wants to be accountable. I sure as heck know that I voted and not for the bozo in office now but I sure will pay for his "change" and effort" on "my" behalf.
jtrotter..............you know what a liberal is?................a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet!
When you are tired of the government telling you what "is good for American citizens" you become a conservitive. Why do I, a free man, need anyone to tell me what is good for me?
Why does the actions of a Republican blocking a democrate's effort to stop credit card companies from raising rates an example of what Conservatives want? The actions of one person doesn't mean that all people who have opposed the democrates are on board or agree with that Republican. Though I have elected Republicans doesn't mean that I an a blind follower. I personally would not support him.
You'd believe Dodd? This guy was the NUMBER ONE bonus recipient of Fannie Mae............
I wouldn't believe THAT s.o.b. if he said that night was dark and day was light!
You BET Conservatives are trying to stop what's "good for America"..............they didn't back the Stimulous, ANY of the government takeovers, this healthcare fiasco, and you can take it to the bank that they won't back yet ANOTHER stimulous that the Dems are conjuring up.
Chris Dodd.....................
Whatever you say, man. Whatever you say.
Here is another example of the Conservatives trying to stop anything that is good for American citizens. These are the same conservatives that keep you frightened.

Only a government that fears its citizens, seeks to control them.

It's a climate of fear that has been used to keep everyone at arms length from each other. At arms length with the idea that everyone we encounter could be potentially untrustworthy and evil. It's got nothing to do with complacency, it's got to do with control of the masses, division of the masses, and anti-progressive moves to keep the status-quo intact. And it's always been handled by conservative mind-set types. It's McCarthyism, creating invisible monsters, mythological beasts in every closet and good versus evil dramatics. And by believing in the beast you contribute to their fallacies, without changing anything for the betterment of American society.
You said it Kim. For far to long the subjects of this nation have sat back and LET the government take more and more of our liberties. Be it for social reform, security, whatever the reason we LET them take it from us. It wasn't a clash of arms between good and bad. It wasn't subversion of one party or the other. It was because we sat back and LET them do it to us. We swallowed the reasoning for years and as we did another part of our freedom became less free.
Now we see the nation for what it has become and we WANT OUR NATION BACK.
Censored-you are right that there has always been people who worried about the loss of freedom. Actually, back in the days of your link, it was pretty crazy. It is always better to have plenty of people willing to question and pay attention to what government is doing in order to prevent the losses of freedoms that we cherish. The problem is that for many years between then and now, the majority of people became complacent. Yes, there will be extremist but the majority were just sailing along sending the representatives to do the work. Most grew up in the good life, getting all that they wanted or working to get more and more. Let the politicians take care of government and I will do my thing. Indifference and complacency brought us to here. Stirring the pot and making people start paying attention is a good thing. A crisis was being created and sometimes it takes a crisis to get people to focus on more than what is in their little world. Making people think and wonder by making dialogue concerning current events, gets people's attention. How is this not a good thing?

China is our top banker ! That could be one reason he went to China..........
Kim:
I have to wonder why Obama would need to be in China to think and reflect. He could be on US soil in ANY unemployment line, homeless shelter, etc. and reflect---up close and personal. Heck, he could even talk to the people. He does not have to fly all over the world to think and reflect but it is I am sure much easier to look those people in the face as opposed to the people he has done this to. I guess it is always wise to keep your bankers in good spirits (since America is bankrupt on so many levels).
Don't forget foolishness, ignorance and gullability................which is what 52% of this population is leaving.
