According to the Wiki dictionary: "Political correctness, coined by Mao Zedong, is a term denoting language, ideas, policies, and behavior seen as seeking to minimize social offense..." And I will now make a totally un-PC statement that will offend many. Political Correctness is the tool used by liberals and leftist in order to mask their incorrect ideaology. Oh, my! It is a language conspiracy in it's purest form. That's why no matter how hard people try to change things for the better, they are always falling short of any real progress for the good of man because of that strongarm of PC. Words have to be written and spoken in such a sensitive way that no words of real value can be truly spoken. Political correctness has a interesting history in comedy. One of the first, and most well-known, example of PC is in the book "Politically Correct Bedtime Stories", in which fairy tales are rewritten in an exaggerated, politically correct manner. Great stuff for a good laugh but un-PC to enjoy it too much. What I find very telling, if not prophetic, is the fact that the roles of good and evil in these PC stories are switched. For example, Hansel, Gretel and their father are evil, and the witch is good in the PC version of Hansel and Gretel. Interesting, huh? Hmmm, sympathy is given to the witch, understanding and forgiveness of her evil because she just can't help it. Those kids and their animal-hunting father are the oppressors, the villians. How many people have been allowed to behave badly and even deadly due to the fear of reprimand due to political correctness? The Ft. Hood Shrink gave plenty of warning signs and spoke enough garbage to let himself be known. You don't need a degree in Psyc to see that a disturbed person is crying out for attention. I'm not placing blame on any one person and I do believe that this could have happened no matter what, I suppose. However, PC has kept us from calling people on the carpet for far too long. PC has given those with socially unacceptable behavior a "get-out-of-jail" free card to act however they want. There are some truths that can't be spoken due to PC. There are laws that get to be broken because of PC. There are stories that never get wrote n cause of PC. It is the fabric of our lives that PC is unraveling. There is nothing but PC to blame for changing our history books, our songs, our politics, our stories and come to think of it, everything. PC keeps many from acting to avert a situation and many have had their lives torn apart but as long as we don't offend anyone, that's just fine. If this blog offends someone, too bad. PC is not my friend. PC is not my leader. PC is the pimple on the backside of society, too hard to reach, festering and painful. PC can distort the lines and confuse the mind! But for the humor of PC, it is priceless. I have to share the following PC example from wordiq.com: "For example, in a satirical example of so-called political correctness speech, the sentence "The fireman put a ladder up against the tree, climbed it, and rescued the cat" might look like this: The firefighter (who happened to be male, but could just as easily have been female) abridged the rights of the cat to determine for itself where it wanted to walk, climb, or rest, and inflicted his own value judgments in determining that it needed to be 'rescued' from its chosen perch. In callous disregard for the well-being of the environment, and this one tree in particular, he thrust the mobility disadvantaged-unfriendly means of ascent known as a 'ladder' carelessly up against the tree, marring its bark, and unfeelingly climbed it, unconcerned how his display of physical prowess might injure the self-esteem of those differently-abled. He kidnapped and unjustly restrained the innocent animal with the intention of returning it to the person who claimed to 'own' the naturally free animal." The biggest questions that I have for all who read this is: Does politically correct language really make us a more PC minded people? Does the change of language affect the mind? I WORK for my money and although it sounds heartless the fact is those that choose NOT to work, NOT to obtain a better education, NOT to excel are the burden on our society and as far as I am concerned they can stand on a street corner and beg... I did not study and work hard for so many years so I can be taxed to support those that do NOT put out any effort because they know the "government" will support them (all done via taxing ME and other hard working individuals of course)
CJW, AMEN! Nothing like working hard all of your life to support those who CHOOSE not to and breed like rabbits because the Governments advocates for that. God forbid that YOU ever need anything because YOU will never qualify.
Mike and Kim, I am also less than PC and DARN PROUD OF IT! The truth hurts but at least I can sleep at night. Keep up the good works folks. It proves that there are still some smart ones out there. I was just about out of faith...

So in the interest of learning, what is it that is hidden because of being PC? Give some examples of what kind of things you would like to say that you can't now? Sentences, phrases, paragraphs or single words can be used, in your examples.
I just want to see what your really advocating for?

I don't give a rat's hairy hiney what a person's skin color or gender is if they are a worthless POS they ARE. I am starting to think YOU fall into that category.
I have ranted and raved on THIS VERY WEB SITE about standing in line behind people using state food stamp credit cards to buy SODA AND CANDY AND ICE CREAM, things which I don't buy when the budget limits them. Kicker that takes the wind out of your racist hunt sails is, those instances EVERY time I have fumed about them, it has been caucasians being the ones I witnessed doing it. I didn't mention race because as far as being a worthless drain on society skin color has NO impact. It is the character of the person.
You sure do seem quick to throw the racist attack out there though, so tell me do YOU collect food stamps? state aid? get in line for the free food at El Ada? Maybe you need to look in the mirror and consider are you being the person you are so quick to accuse others of being.
Not all people on public assistance are worthless bums. Many are our disabled and seniors, who get medicare and medicaid and get free food at El Aida and some if they are eligible get food stamps....

You are correct, I seriously doubt those you mention can be found in line at the checkout with an armload of candy soda and ice cream. I have also stated before that I am NOT opposed to those that NEED it having that support, that is the purpose is was established for. I AM however opposed to those that are physically more fit than ME sitting at home playing Xbox as they live off of MY taxes. I live with aches and pains daily from various injuries throughout my life as do many, yet I still seem to be able to put in countless hours working to support myself and mine, and I DO donate to many worthwhile organizations, including supporting sports in the schools, cheer basket, shop with a cop, CFC....
Keep your eyes open at WallyWorld and you'll occasionally see a LOT of migrant workers paying with food stamps, who ALSO have WADS of hundred dollar bills in their wallets.
We're seeing "political correctness" right now with the Fort Hood killer. Most of the mainstrean media will STILL not call this a "terrorist act', and many will NOT use the term "Muslim" in it............even in the wake of what he yelled out during the rampage, his "business cards" found in his apartment, and the SCADS of emails between him and Jihad.
In MY case, I'm not prevented from saying ANYTHING I so desire. Pelosi has no problem publicly calling us tea-partiers a bunch of NAZI's that she thinks we are................and I've got no problem publicly calling HER the communist that SHE and most of those around her actually ARE.
If my being a Constitutional American offends someone, they can get BENT.
If one of my bumper stickers offends some other driver, he'd better be real cautious about starting anything out on the street.
I have no concern for these simple b-----ds anymore.

Why worry about ticking people off or offending anyone? If you are true to who you are, that is really all that matters. Fight for what you believe in and to heck with what people think of you. Life is too short (and I am pretty sure that you do not lose any sleep over any of this anyway). Being PC is overated, a complete waste of time and only for people who kiss the lower cheeks to keep everyone "happy."

There are people who are mentally challenged, have mental illness or who have low IQ's where it is almost impossible for them to get work, not to mention those that have physical disability's.
Being low income is not a glamorous lifestyle and those who do receive public assistance weather it's a food stamp card or free food and medical, do you really think they love their life living this way? NO they have poor self esteem!
They want to be proud just like everyone else.
When you see people up at Walmart using a food stamp card, buying soda, candy and ice cream do not judge. If they have children all I can say it must make those kids happy to get a treat like that !
Open up your hearts ! Don't be so close minded. Helping others is what makes all of us great individuals.
Maybe this Thanksgiving take in a homeless person to share your Thanksgiving meal.

Using tax dollars to help those who CAN'T work is justified. Using tax dollars to help those who WON'T work, is quite another.

I do believe you would try to provoke a mirror into an argument. You could call your unworthy opponent a litany of derogatory terms and then agree with yourself...perhaps you're just trying to clear your lungs of belly button lint. Or, maybe you've discovered that you are carrying an incurable plague; but rather than kill yourself, you've chosen to share it with others. Quien sabes?
In any event, I don't think Political Correctness Syndrome is confined to a specific political belief. I think it's more likely a doctrine supported by people who are more concerned about how other people feel as opposed to how other people really are. I base this on my experiences dealing with both: politically correct right wing armored military assault vehicle owners who have never harmed another human being, and politically correct, left wing racists who claim to support minorities by treating them as pets.
As for others on this thread, trying to convince others that you are not "politically correct" dogmatics by using crude and rude language, only serves to identify you as 'crude and rude.'
Self respect is the intrinsic reward of treating others the way you would like to be treated yourself. It shouldn't make your fur fly to respond to 'political correctniks' who try to convince reasonable people that it is possible to pick up a turd by the clean end. Sometimes it's best to just turn away, go home, pet your best friend, and have a glass of Irish courage...then, thank Kim for opening an interesting dialogue.

Your friggin hilarious, man. Where do you come up with that stuff? I'm just trying to take this blog in the direction it wants to go. And that means going head on, instead of talking in absurd circles and vagaries that only point out that your a nut.
The fact remains that the people who get off on this whole "I'm anti-PC" thing, are usually the ones who make statements like "black kids beating up white kids on school buses is running rampant in this country" or "the Mexicans are coming to America just to destroy it" so that they, the anti-PCer's, can spout off these ugly statements and beliefs, and make it seem like they're NOT racist.
And that's all there is to it.
But the talking in circles is working well for you. It looks like there is logic amongst the words but it ends up swallowing itself. Binge and purge style.

Crikey! Imagine if you will, a nation where everybody goes around saying whatever they want about anyone and anything, without thought of peoples individual feelings and ideas. This kind of behavior would cause a deeper separation between the people, and these strict divisions would destroy America faster then any world shadow government.
We'd be left with a gang-land of differing factions, moving from one town to the next in a constant warring state. Pillage and plunder, civilisation destroyed because we couldn't be civil.
It would be akin to what is going on in the Middle East, minus the foreign armies.

Still, not as bad as listening to CNN telling me how to feel, or ramming a burning sliver into my eye; but, getting close.
Nevertheless, if you toss the drama, the message is...if everyone is armed and of sound character, maybe we'll be more polite to each other. A snarling, honest person makes a much better neighbor than a smiling sophist.

Folks............yesterday at the gunshow (and she'll probably be there today), I met Jana Kemp, who is getting signatures on a petition so she can run against Butch Otter next year. She is an Independent and had some pretty interesting things to say. She's running because "Like everybody here today at this gunshow, I've had ENOUGH of what's going on in this country."
I'll be watching, and researching over the next few months. I don't like Otter, "Republican" or not.
Like most of you out there, I will never support ANYBODY just because he/she is a "party member" and it's the "family thing" to do.
I am NOT "politically correct." I'm an American FIRST.
Here's what the Rightist aren't talking about. Federal courts have tried and convicted 195 terrorists - international and domestic - on U.S. soil since 2001, the bulk during the Bush/Cheney Administration. Yet there was silence from the right wing. There were no complaints. But the minute President Obama tries to work towards closing Guantanamo Bay by putting some of the prison's most notorious inmates on trial there are attacks and condemnation. Why? Because of politics - pure and simple.
This is far from the end of right-wing hypocrisy and distortions. Defense Secretary Bob Gates said it perfectly months ago. "The truth is, there's a lot of fear-mongering about this ... We've never had an escape from a Supermax prison, and that's where these guys will go."
As most people who have read what I write, I may have views that are not in line with their beliefs, but I am almost always polite and thoughtful with my words. I am usually kind and polite to everyone I meet. I have been known to be forgiving and compassionate to those that others view as unredeemable. I don't call people rude names nor do I attack people for their beliefs. I react out of anger sometimes, just like others because I am human. However, I have always tried to be kind. Do I do this in order to be politically correct? Of course not. There is no need for PC when common courtesy and manners are used. I wrote this blog to make a point and others have responded in just the manner that I thought they would.
PC was started in order to be kinder to others. And like so many things that start with good intentions, it is taken to the farside and becomes an anchor around the neck. PC shouldn't cause common sense to die. If someone is acting like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck then common sense demands that we call it a DUCK. Instead, out of fear of being called intolerant or racist or a hater, people refrained from exposing the duck. They ignored it when he waddles around quacking and though the duck gave every indication that he intended to attack and fly like a duck, nobody could say a word for PC had won over common sense. PC was the victor when a disturbed obvious duck killed innocent people to prove that he was indeed a duck.
I apologize profoundly to all the beautiful ducks of the bird-kind for using their name in this example. I don't think that ducks are evil or bad, so forgive me. I love ducks and really like the Aflac Duck. Sooooo ASPCA, please don't call!

A society that embraces free speech must be able to endure stupid speech.

there will always be a fine line between blabbering and starting a riot. I support 1st amendment rights for criminals because in the end they usually do themselves in with their mouth or their loved ones do. Forensics is fine but for those who have been in the business that stuff takes forever. Cases are solved usually by catching people in their maze of twisted but wrong logic.

POST SCRIPT: Wife & I just got back from Idaho City, where we stayed overnight at a small bed & breakfast. TV reception was lousy, so we eventually fell asleep to the hum of CNN............first time in a LONG time since I watched it.

They were all smiles and tingley up the leg, every time they mentioned their "annointed one's" leg, and oh the praise for Eric Holder, who will make another O.J. Simpson case of these 9/11 pukes in the fine proper "progressive' city of New York.
And OH........OH....all the money we're gonna SAVE through this new government-run health care, and even with a SECOND stimulous.........not to worry...............it'll all be debtor friendly!
Say what you will about FOX, but they at least DO have liberal guests on, and have repeatedly invited the head thieves in D.C. to interview.

It was the first time in about 6 years that I'd seen James Carvelle................he hasn't changed, he's STILL a nitwit.

And they smile when they announced that Obamacare will NOT include illegal aliens. What they conveniently do NOT say, is that Obama's administration is pushing hard for AMNESTY for all 12 million of these law-breakers.........

Threats are made every day,every hour, every minute. You get the point. For a few cops to answer and investigate every threat would be impossible.
CNN is a biased media source just like everyone else. Everything is subjective. Your blue is my turquoise and so on. CNN is the front runner and so acts accordingly. Their competition lacks in reputation (for better or for worse) and resources. Fox is the runner-up and so has to diversify their package. It is basic game theory or competition.
Uh..............it's a pretty well known fact through the FCC, that FOX has a larger viewing audience than all other news networks combined, which has made it Mark Lloyd's prime target to shut down if he can.
The same reason the left media has NEVER let up on Sarah Palin. She attracts huge crowds wherever she goes, and the mainstream media that Obama has in his pocket is in deep fear, that those crowds are also VOTERS.
I'm gonna make a prediction right now.
I don't think Obama is gonna finish his first and only term. If he DOES manage to, I believe Hillary (who has been uneventfully doing her thing without too much controversy), is going to step out there in 2012, CHALLENGE Obama and BEAT him out of the part nomination.
Fellow rightwingers...............I've gotten recent emails from different contacts who tell me that FOX is going to break something significant tomorrow night at 7:00. Nobody seems to want to divulge what it is, but it matters not to me, as I'm usually tuned-in ANYWAY around that time frame.
