Unbox the Cross!
2. Troops requested 50,000 but the General was pressured to lower that to 40,000. 3. Baucus bill meets their target-costs $829 billion but the good part is that it cuts deficit by $81 billion. How? Well, it will cover 95% of the people however there will be 25 Million who have insurance now who eventually won't be insured? Premiums will be going up! The Cadillac insurance plans will be heavily taxed. Taxes and penalties! Medical devices will be taxed. Leads to a massive involvement by the gov't. 4. Heritage Foundation is warning of propaganda and gimmickry to get this bill to pass. Case in point-Doctors for America? The Obama meeting with doctors was so staged it is not funny. I watched footage as they were handed white coats for that meeting. It was all a fairytale to get people to believe that doctors want this reform. These were doctors for Obama, who campaigned for him. Let the people see all these white coats and they will believe that all doctors support healthcare reform. 5. Unbox the Cross! The decision about the cross will be decided today as it is argued in court. California's Mojave Desert is at the heart of a Supreme Court case about the government's display of religious symbols. Here's a real interesting tidbit about this story. A Catholic veteran who used to work at the park service where the cross stood was troubled about it and reported that it shouldn't be on public property. 6. I heard about the crowds of people who were standing in line for 5 city blocks in order to get their share of Obama Money. So I had to search and read about this. According to the Boston Globe-Rumors travel fast and when the word got out that they would get a $3,000 check just for proving that they were homeless or poor, the crowds formed by daybreak, Tuesday morning. It wasn't long before people started getting frustrated and angry. Scuffles erupted as people pushed and shoved each other. It was so bad that the city had to call out the Detroit Gang squad to control them. Several had exhaustion problems and had to be treated by medical personnel. But hey, who would suffer a little tired feet syndrome in order to get some free cash? 7. Obama's people say that they have enlisted over 2 million people who support healthcare reform. Where are they? Apparently, their voices are too meek to be heard over the raging voices of those who oppose it at all the townhall meetings. They are being called silent majority. Hey, that is what we RWE used to be called. I mean that those of us who were silent in the past are finally using our voice and they are the silent ones? I'm just confused now. Don't we, those who oppose it outnumber them? Then wouldn't that make us a MAJORITY? 8. Boise want to spend millions and millions on a trolly car system instead of using that money to improve the real public transportation system that they have. Seems stupid to put money into something new. But who am I but a small town MountainHomey. 9. Apes taking over the world? Yes, this does concern me. I was always leery of those creatures. Not only do they congregate in zoos all over the world but they turn up driving cars through towns, dancing in the streets of New Orleans during Marti Grais (spelled right??)and seen doing all sorts of things on commercials while wearing business suits when everyone knows that apes and chimps only like to wear overalls and flannels. This does deserve more attention! I must watch them carefully for signs of insurrection. 10. And finally, number 10. Only because I couldn't just post 8, right? My final worry for today! Drum-roll please. Obama is a party-animal! Yes, folks, while we think that he is working hard at solving all of man-kinds problems, that is really his doppleganger. He is really out bowling, golfing and surfing with these newlyweds. I'm not kidding! I saw it in their slideshow. Every single picture of their vacations, Obama was right there in the background living it up. I think that we have a double doing all the work, if you can call what he does actual work and the Pres. is having a good time snorkeling in Hawaii. Reported to be his home state but the jury is still out on that. However, I have no double to work for me so I must close and get there. The official time is 7:25am. Thank you peoples and have a great day. Comments Showing most recent comments first [Show in chronological order instead] |
I've lived in Mtn Home for over 20 years. I love my city and my country. Since I am a writer, my decision to blog here seemed appropriate. I enjoy acting so I've been blessed with the opportunity to work on some independent films and with Prairie Dog Productions and Bogus Creek Ranch. I hope that something I have to write about has some value for others or just amuses someone.

I'd go with that...............
"Stay home in your OWN state and trash THAT one......not OURS!"
I'd love to see a huge sign at every state line that reads, "Welcome to Idaho. Now go home."
Another example is that of Banff National Park. I know it is Canada but it is not filled with modern infrastructure. Paved roads, yes but there is not a lodge or resort every 3 miles. Beyond the park, the same holds true. The point is that leaving nature be is not a bad thing. It does not mean that one is ignorant and is foresaking income in the name of pride. Making development difficult or sometimes impossible does not mean that one is backwards. Instead of giving into outsiders and adjusting to their wants and desires, why not make them adjust to your ways (albeit simple and old-fashioned).
Maybe they should section the country into areas for certain beliefs. Let all the libs live in certain areas, and all the "rednecks" live somewhere else. Left & Right.
25 states for each side, and whether your state prospered, or DIDN'T, it would be up to YOUR state and YOUR governor. As for D.C.?..............."We'll call you if we need you, but you Feds STAY out of our lives"
And as Bouncer reminded us.............that WAS the cause of the Civil War...............yeah, yeah, yeah......I know.....
But that WAS the cause, and it's going on again RIGHT NOW!
"And they know all about what happens when you don't control immigration!"
This would make for a great bumper sticker. I would find it amusing. I dont know about anyone else but it would give a new light on the subject.
The residents of Lemhi County are always stereotypes as being old-fashioned, isolationist rednecks that dont have a clue. They make the prospect of development a bit more rigorous than others. The result is miles of pristine, uninhabited, trash-free, unpolluted earth. Not everybody has to line up for tourist dollars.
Absolutely............there are things in this country that should be off limits to "progress."
Everytime we drive through Monument Valley, it is always refreshing to stop and chat with some of the Navajos. They live fairly simply......don't need a lot, and have a deep respect for the land.
In a way, the American Indians are way ahead of us..................THEY've been "fighting terrorism" since 1492!
And they know all about what happens when you don't control immigration!
I have had the same thoughts myself. The closest that I have been to that ideal is the Frank Church Wilderness. I am glad that they did not complete that Forest Service road from Shoup to Riggins.
Can't you just imagine what this country must have looked like when it was just the indians living here?
Not all places have to be developed. Just leaving some places alone and letting them be remote is the best thing that us humans can do sometimes.
You've got the VISION, ol' buddy!
I agree about hunters. They have more incentive to maintain the public lands and so most act accordingly. The real threat to them is the yuppie that wants to be an outdoorsman. They desire paved roads, cell phone service, indoor plumbing/sewer, and up-to-date lodging. The modern, middle-class, city folk that have no business being in the wilderness but feel that they must do because everyone else is are the primary offenders. In my experience having spent many summers in Shoup, Idaho they are the ones who leave trash behind and degrade the land.
PS to Twil...........sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my dad to emphazema back in 88. He'd continued smoking a full 8 years after his doctors told him to quit.
If I can be of any further help on your gun selection, let me know.
Hunters also know that there has long been a movement from the left to ban guns and hunting, so when they go OUT there, they are careful not to disturb the land around them.
For example, they know that if they can hunt on private land, and they leave a gate open, allowing th rancher's cattle to get out, that gate will be closed to them next year.
Leaving trash laying around on BLM land is away to get THAT closed off as well.
With more and more people coming up here building houses, cabins and such, we don't have as much open range to hunt and fish as we used to. We've also seen small roads closed to ATV's (which doesn't bother most hunters during deer season).
But all good hunters know they have enough trouble with politicians who want to BAN hunting, and guns as well. The LAST thing they need to do is be irresponsible with public land, and then get it ruined for everyone.
When I was still hunting yearly, it didn't hurt me a bit to pick up someone ELSE'S empty beer can, flatten it out and dispose of it when I got back to camp. Probably DIDN'T belong to a hunter, but the idea was to be able to return again next year-----------especially if it was a "prime" spot.
Its kind of ironic that now that my dad is on his last leg due to lung failure from many long years of smoking that now I am starting to get the itch to hunt and fish.
Not to get off on a tangent but some leftists depict hunters as archaic, conservative, out-of-teach with reality relics. 99% of most hunters that I have met are better environmentalists than the granolas that are made famous with their advocacy.
My first suggestion is to be sure to GO with a known hunter, who knows the 'ropes" AND the area. Even the Old-timers should never be out there alone.
I like a good bolt action rifle, chambered in 270 Winchester for deer and elk both. The Ruger Model 77, and the Remington 700 are both excellent choices.
A lot of these guys go out there OVER-gunned. You don't need a 340 Weatherby Magnum to drop a 200 lb mule deer.
I like a Leupold scope--------------personal preference.
If you're going to hunt in wooded areas, where you don't need to make any shots "way out there", a BETTER choice of gun would be a lever action Marlin 336, chambered for the 30-30.
Even now, in a world of "gee whiz", exotic calibers and heavy magnums, the old 30-30 STILL accounts for more deer in this country than any other caliber. Even today.
The 336 Marlin is a strong, quick-pointing rifle that will take mulies reliably out to 200 yards (the average deer shot in America is 85 yards).
The Marlin is not overly expensive, although VERY WELL built, and many (including myself), actually prefer it to the Winchester. Not an ultra-long range caliber, it doesn't require the additional cost of a scope (unless you want one), and 30-30 ammo is fairly easy to find......even now.
I killed my first deer with a 30-30, and a couple more after that. As with ANY gun though, you have to put in a little "homework". Sight it in with a particular load, practice with that load and learn where it shoots at different distances.
Then...........(and NOBODY can help you here...........) try not to get "buck fever' when you get one lined up in your sights!
Sorry Twil.........I get to discussing guns, and.......................
Bottom line, I'd recommend a scoped 270 bolt action or a 30-30 lever............depending on if you're gonna hunt "ridge to ridge".....or in the woods.
PS.......a scoped rifle is often a hinderance in the woods, where at short range, you and the deer are likely to see each other at the same time, and if he starts to run, it is almost impossible to find him in the crosshairs of a scope, whereas an UN-scoped lever action, will allow you to keep an eye on him in your periphrial vision while you line him up in the open sights.
And shooting "tree-to-tree", you don't need a long range caliber anyway.
I might try my hand at hunting a deer next year. Any suggestions on a brand or type of rifle. I have not fired a gun of any kind in about 10 years. Its weird how things that are boring and only for "old" people are not so bad when you get older yourself.
I've hunted for decades here in Idaho, but no longer have the desire to shoot animals. I've taken my share of deer & elk. I'll pop a badger or a rattler if one jumps up out of nowhere, though.
Besides that, there are too many nitwits out there now who shoot at anything that moves
I silhouette shoot these days, but sparingly, as to not burn up stuff I might need later, but rest assured, I DO keep my trigger finger "warm" as you say, both up close and "way out there"
Nobody's gonna throw me in jail. The best they're ever gonna do is TRY. For me, 41 years ago, it was communists. Only the location has changed, and this time, it IS for US.
On a lighter note, Censored, I hope your hunt is successful, and if so, make sure you cross every "T" and dot every "I" on your tag. Sellers hasn't retired yet, and he'd write hid own mother up for leaving a dirty dish in the sink on Thanksgiving.
Your going to give yourself a heart-attack with all those exclamation points. Just calm down and be cool, otherwise you might not make it for the revolution.
You should be out hunting and warming up your trigger finger. It's still legal too shoot a deer and curse it liberally.
Example: I'm gonna fill ya full of lead you *^&$ sucking Liberal! Or, die you dirty fascist!
It's good therapy and you won't get thrown in jail. Unless you don't have a deer tag.
Right as usual, censored. All that video of the marches and teas parties---all staged.
All that footage of Obama talking about the private police force, single payer options not a peeny more tax on those making $250,000 or less-------all audio-dubbed
ACORN------all audio dubbed
Assaults on police officers, taped from cruiser dashcams----------all fake
The Rodney King beatings-------staged (gotta be fair, now).
Videocams in stores and banks are SURELY against SOMEBODY's rights, eh?
Don't bother cam-cording your trip to Yellowstone, because videotape is a LIE and no one would ever believe you were even there, right?
..................they're been CAUGHT, Censored.
They've been CAUGHT!
How about the WATERGATE tapes, Censored? Were THEY all a lie too?.................(hell no, cause THAT was against NIXON!), a REPUBLICAN!
When the LEFT gets caught...........it's "bogus", "conspiracy", a "smear campaign."
The same rules don't apply to YOU guys, does it!
Awesome!
How can you argue with that kind of proof? I mean the Video evidence is damning! I always knew in my gut that Repubs hated women that talk and do anything other then look pretty. But there's the proof of their sexism in pure technicolor. They blew up lady liberty and created a race of mute women! You people make me sick!
My God! The implications of such a thing boggles the mind.
Thank You Beau.

If I want good solid numbers, I go to Bureau of Labor Statistics, Congressional Budget Office, Census, or Bureau of Economic Analysis. True, it takes awhile for these groups to come up with the numbers. By the time that they have analyzed the issue properly, the issue may be off the table or no one cares anymore. The paradox that is research.
The government pigeon-holed that last link. This one should work.

Damn dirty apes, and their crazy apocalyptic ideas.
I appreciate your concern Kim. But I just learned that my swine flu was just a figment of my imagination. I wasn't really puking, coughing or feverish, I'm just a really good actor. So good that I even tricked myself into believing. Here's the link:

A high school coach asked a young man what he wanted to be when he grew up. "The President." he replied.
"What would you do?" the coach asked.
"Well, I would give money to the homeless and put them in houses". said he.
"Now, that's a fine and noble thing to do.....Tell you what: come over to my house on Saturday, mow my lawn, pull the weeds and rake the yard. I'll give you $50.00, and take you to the grocery store where the homeless guy is sitting out in the parking lot, and you can give that money to him."
The young lad thought about it a minute and said, "Why doesn't the HOMELESS man come to your house, do that yardwork and you just give HIM the money?"
"Welcome to the Republican Party" said the coach.
Well, Heritage is every bit as credible as fact.org, then, in that case.
I'm sure noboby would be interested in www.heritage.org/research/budget/wm2642c...
particularly numbers 7, 11 and 23
What nobody is worried about #9 or #10? Okay, fine! I guess I'm on my own there. No, strike that phrase. Goin it alone may be thought to be a comment related to the one about masturbation so I can never use that line again without giggling. On a serious note, Censored, I am sorry if you have been sick and I never intended to make anyone think that I doubt that the Swine flu exists. My comment was to question if this flu is any more dangerous than the other normal flu. Nobody seems to have gotten all up in arms about the normal flu and it has killed far more than this H1N1 flu. I hope that you are feeling better, Censored.
Twil- I have said many times before that numbers are not believable so I stand with you on that one.
Oh and FOX too. They use studies performed by Heritage Foundation to back up the various hosts agenda.
For example, one study performed by them states the cost of the Waxman-Markey bill is 9.04 Trillion at the low end and 12.36 Trillion at the high end. This uses the assumption of a baseline year to compare to. This baseline year is 2005. They assume that nothing is going to change from then until 2050. The only change will be higher energy prices and the resulting mess that comes from that. To argue that the only change in everyday life will be energy prices and that we will act exactly the same in 2050 as we did in 2005 is laughable.
We know THAT from CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times.
I dont agree with the latest health care proposals but Heritage Foundation is a questionable. They are so biased that its almost laughable. Numbers can be twisted to prove anybody's case.
