Road to Destruction-Part 2

Again, I will stress that I am merely reporting history here. Many say that there is nothing similar between what happened back then and the push for Socialism that we see today. You make up your own mind what these history facts mean. I doubt that America could ever fall so completely as the Germans did but there are still lessons to be learned. I continue the facts of Hitler's Youth.

In 1928, Hitler's Youth expanded to include boys aged 10 to 14, later known as the Jungvolk and started a youth movement for girls, called the Bund Deutscher Mädel, the League of German Girls, or BDM. The Hitler Youth started a news service to assist with delivering Nazi propaganda and publish youth newspapers against the "Jewish monopoly of news."

The Hitler Youth movement, along with the Nazi Party, would soon experience enormous growth as a result of the economic catastrophe brought on by the Great Depression of 1929. Many oppressed youth joined the organization out of desperation. Parents pleaded with their teenagers to not associate and church leaders forbid it which only caused the teenagers to join in the thousands. By 1930, Hitler's followers campaigned tirelessly and got his Nazi Party on the ballot and won 107 seats instantly becoming the second largest political party in Germany.

The Hitler Youths grew in numbers and strength. They would harass and beat up Jews as well as anyone who dared to question their party ideas. It was a badge of honor to terrorize Jewish teachers and administrators. The depression was taking it's toll. German elected democratic leaders were unable to cope. Thousands of businesses and banks failed. Millions were without jobs and lost their life savings. How familiar is that sounding?

April 1932, the Hitler Youth had tirelessly handed out campaign material and held rallys which directly caused the Nazi Party to become the largest party therefore able to take control of Germany. Their numbers were now at 107,000 and would grow to millions within a year.

By Jan. 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor. He preceeded to demand businesses and organizations to be Nazified or be dissolved. In April, fifty Hitler Youth were sent to take over the Committee of German Youth Associations, an organization representing nearly six million German children involved a huge array of youth programs. Staff members were told to continue working but they were now under the authority of the Hitler Youth.

What Hitler and his Youth Leaders did was take advantage of the natural enthusiasm of young people, their craving for action and desire for peer approval especially at a time when the country's economics were at the lowest point. These young people wanted change and Hitler was promising them the world. They needed a "Hero" a "saviour" and someone who said all the right things. Each young person would come to regard his or her youth group as their true family and home. All other youth organizations disappeared except the Catholic Youth which had an agreement with Hitler. Many Nazi officers and youth were seen at Mass each week but it didn't take long to convince them that church was not where they should be spending their time if they wanted to rise in status within the Reich.

The youth of Germany were now fully under the thumb of Hitler, indoctrinating them as early as age 7. The youth leader, Baldur von Schirach said, "The best Hitler Youth, irrespective of rank and office, is he who completely surrenders himself to the National Socialist world view." And that is exactly what those teenagers and young adults did. Nazi truths became all that they knew.

To be continued...

It will always perplex me that in Europe, which is relatively small, that they have so much nationalist sentiment. So many languages and so many places wanting to be independent. To relate this, Germany is the opposite. Banding together of small states that really that are not that dissimilar. Seemingly all of these states were begging for a chance to have conflict and the two world wars and the other small ones simply fed that need.

You said it! We definitely DO know the "rest of the story." Too bad we haven't learned anything from it.

Back to the topic, its strange to think that Germany prior to 1880 or so was just a series of small independent duchies. The nationalist pride was nonexistent. Each small duchy or dukedom was independent and cared not about any of the others. Each was relatively self-sufficient. The one exception was Bavaria. They traded with others and called themselves a nation but had no ambitions of war or taking over Europe. It seems that with the decline of Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and the old Holy Roman Empire that they felt that they needed to fill that seat. Only fifty years after Bismarck banded this loose confederation together did Hitler arrive on the scene and we know the rest of the story.

I wouldn't worry too much about people sitting back. Not now.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Wed, Sep 30, 2009, at 7:24 AM

Two things are true, we still have a voice and a vote. As long as people don't sit back and do nothing.

MsMarylin.................I don't know how much credability to give our voting system anymore, after what we know about ACORN...........and these votes ARE electronically counted.....something I wouldn't think is "un-tamperable."

Outside of God, my wife, my dog and my Smith & Wesson, I don't trust ANYBODY these days.

So censored that gives you two thing in common with Obama now!

1. Pants

2. Card carrying liberal idiot

We are a democracy and we have the right to vote. Our votes have been heard. We have the right to vote when election time comes around again. I am not worried about dictatorship in our country after all we have the Republicans to see that it doesn't happen!

"I doubt that America could ever fall so completely as the Germans did"

That pretty much cuts the teeth out of alot of the comparisons. The economic and social conditions made the others happen. Without the economic collapse, no one cares about Hitler or his antics. Without german males feeling disenfranchised by modern society, the need for violent actions ceases.

Our "fearless Commander-in Chief" has only conversed with General McCrystal ONCE in the 70 days he's been in charge over there.

I wonder how often Obama has talked with Mayor Daly about getting the Olympics to be held in Chicago?

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Sep 29, 2009, at 6:58 AM

I hear Hitler wore pants as well! You know who else wears pants...?

Obama!?

-- Posted by censored on Tue, Sep 29, 2009, at 5:00 AM

I heard that Obama is only going to be in Denmark 4 hrs and its a promise he made before he was elected to go there to promote Chicago, so he is keeping his promise. I also heard that while on Air Force One he will be working.

Is there any fact to the story that the White House called the Radio Station and told them to shut up?

I also think our children would benefit a little longer school year. When I went to school there was no such thing as a Spring Break or in service days or 1/2 start days. We got a couple days off for Easter not a week and we got Christmas Vacation and then the summer break. Teachers worked longer and harder. They corrected their own papers, supervised the lunch room and play ground and stayed after school to help children who needed extra help.

I also believe that those teachers that are there for the kids not just for the pay check should get paid more. There were good and bad teachers back when I was a kid and when my kids went to school and its still the same today....good and bad teachers.......

I am not saying all teachers are bad nor am I saying all teachers are good ......

I also know a young Mother who is working and going to school so she can get a better paying job in the future to support herself and her little boy. Mom's going back to school in this day and age isn't a bad thing.

Priorities, you know.

This guy is a joke, Kim. And still there are so many idiots out there who continue to endorse him.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 7:58 PM

I heard about the Obama school days plan. We can't afford to pay the teachers what they deserve right now, so let's make them work longer hours and take aways the summer as well. And you wonder why good teacher leave for other professions.

But here was something even more interesting. While Iran is standing with their tongues out at us, while testing their missiles and healthcare reform is being thrown around like a pinpong ball, Obama feels that his top priority is to go to Denmark to promote Chicago getting the 2016 Olympics. And I heard that a news station made the mistake of saying that Chicago didn't want the games and White House called to tell them to shut up and not run that report. Strong-arm government in the White House and a President who just wants to get out of town.

Waste of time----------both ways.

First of all, children's attention spans do not warrant longer days as most parents can attest to.

Secondly, Moms are some of the busiest people on this planet. When would they have the extra time or energy?------and a LOT of them have to work because in THIS day and age, it just about TAKES two incomes, if you're going to have anything.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 3:24 PM

I also heard Obama wants kids to have a longer school day and he wants Mom's to go back to school !

Is this a bad thing?

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 1:47 PM

And we probably WON'T hear anything from them, either.

No, I'm sure the government didn't know anything about it.

Obama "didn't know" that ACORN had been receiving millions. Nancy Pelosi "didn't know" that the Senate had de-funded them.

They don't know the things they SHOULD know, so it's reasonable to assume they wouldn't have known about the school.

Just heard that with everything ELSE going on, Obama is flying to Denmark to argue his case for the Olympics being held in Chicago.

I can see where THAT would be important right now, unless he figures to boost the economy through all the pick-pocketing and hold-ups on the streets! Tourists usually carry fair amounts of money.

-- Posted by bazookaman on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 1:23 PM

Let me just say ..... singing to Obama Praises was one isolated incident where a teacher allowed her class to sing praises to him. We still have not heard any more on what the NJ School District has to say about this. Let's not assume it was our Government allowing it.

-- Posted by MsMarylin on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 9:11 AM

You know, I am rather involved in public affairs and I have never met anyone who worships this new "Messiah". This seems like someone trying to drum up paranoia and exaggerate things. Everyone has to have a talent for something don't they?

-- Posted by twilcox1978 on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 8:32 AM

To the "Koolaid crowd" in this country, those kindergarteners singing Obama's praises might SEEM "harmless", but just like in Hitler's time, it still comes down to "Indoctrinating our youth."

I've said it before...........if God isn't allowed in our schools anymore, the GOVERNMENT doesn't belong there either! That teacher and principal should BOTH be fired.

But no matter. The libs will defend their "messiah" with their dying breath...........after all, it's "all about race" you know!

Hitler pretended to be whatever he needed to be. Like the Great Deceiver or an angel of Light. Makes sense that in order to gain the trust of people, he would have to appear to be Christian. When in fact, he became obsessed with the occult. And he overthrew the Catholic hold on the people once he had them more in his power. I think that is were people can be most vulnerable when someone within their faith uses God to further their agenda. I remember Obama's pastor who said he was a Christian, either conservative or fundamental. He got his audience as a pastor. The evil that men do is usually masked by goodness and that's what makes them so dangerous. People should never become so devoted to another person, giving away their power. How many times have we seen that situation become deadly?

-- Posted by kimkovac on Mon, Sep 28, 2009, at 6:32 AM

Sounds like the JROTC!?! Oh and hitler was a conservative christian.

I've lived in Mtn Home for over 20 years. I love my city and my country. Since I am a writer, my decision to blog here seemed appropriate. I enjoy acting so I've been blessed with the opportunity to work on some independent films and with Prairie Dog Productions and Bogus Creek Ranch. I hope that something I have to write about has some value for others or just amuses someone.
