  • Ronald Reagan has more character than Barack Obama... whatever!

Reagonomics = Give the rich more money, then they'll eventually hire some poor people to carry it around.

    Reagan has many faults...

    1) Treason: As a private citizen, and BEFORE the election, in contravention of both law and tradition, Reagan's minions and handlers illegally negotiated with the Iranians to induce them hold the American Embassy hostages until after the elections,to embarrass President Carer and to prevent his successful negotiation of an "October Surprise." Sent future VP George Bush, Sr., and future CIA chief William Casey to Paris to negotiate the deal.

    2) Sent arms, including chemical weapons, to both Iraq and Iran during the decade-long Iran-Iraq war, making those two countries the two biggest US arms trading partners at precisely the time when it was illegal to trade with either due to both US and UN laws.

    3) Iran/Contra: Used drug traffickers to transport illegal arms to Nicaragua, ignoring the contraband which was brought back on the return trip, creating a massive and immediate increase in cocaine trade in urban California. Illegally used the CIA to mine harbors and ferry Contra troops in Nicaragua. Eventually, several administration staffers were convicted of crimes ranging from lying to Congress to conspiracy to defraud the U.S. The scandal involved the administration selling arms to Iran and using proceeds from the sales to fund a guerrilla insurgent group in Nicaragua

    4) Created alQaeda in Afghanistan to oppose the Soviet puppet/occupation there

    5) Sponsored right-wing, State terrorism in El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, and Guatemala against indigenous insurgents who were fighting the dictatorial, hereditary regimes there. Illegally invaded and occupied Grenada, overthrowing the democratically elected President

    6) Lied about ALL of this activity before Congress, and suborned his Secretary of Defense to perjury, as well.

    7) Rescinded Carter policy that all US international financial support be based upon valid human rights records.

    8) Took the world to the brink of nuclear war, putting nuclear weapons into Europe, violating the very provision that was the settlement to the Cuban missile crisis.

    9) Instituted the so-called "Mexico City" doctrine, effectively barring recipients of U.S. foreign aid from promoting abortion as a method of family planning.

    10) Instigated trickle-down/voodoo economics, which was the beginning of what has recently culminated in the crash of the bubbles. Here is a subset of his regime's economic sins:

    a) Within the first year of the policy, we were in a depression caused in large measure by the policy. The "historic" 27% tax-cut was skewed two to one in favor of those making over $200,000 per year, in percentages, and far more in real dollars. By the end of the second year, increases in state and local taxes more than replaced the cuts for the middle class.

    b) Wages throughout Reagan/Bush remained stagnant in real dollars for the next 12 years, the longest and worst growth performance in middle class wages in US history. Average national growth was the lowest since the early 30s.

    c) Conspired with corpoRat and congressional allies to sustain spending by loosening credit, to replace the wages they were not going to increase.

    d) Named Ayn Rand acolyte and free-market apostle Alan Greenspan as Chief of the Federal Reserve.

    11) The HUD/DoI Scandals: Samuel Pierce and his associates were found to have rewarded wealthy contributors to the administration's campaign with funding for low income housing development without the customary background checks, and lobbyists, such as former Secretary of the Interior James G. Watt, were rewarded with huge lobbying fees for assisting campaign contributors with receiving government loans and guarantees. Sixteen convictions were eventually handed down, including several members of the Reagan administration.

    12) Appointed some of the "worst" Federalist Society/strict constructionists to the federal bench, including Scalia, Kennedy, and O'Connor, ALL of whose votes were crucial in (illegally) installing GW Bush in the presidency in 2000, and named Rehnquist Chief Justice.

    13) Ordered the revocation of the FCC regulation called "the Fairness Doctrine," and opened up the Press to the rash of consolidations which has led, now, to a compromised, toothless, stenographic, lap-dog "Fourth Estate."

    14) Initiated the attack on labor unions by attacking PATCO, the Air Traffic Controllers union, creating a crisis in airport control towers nation-wide, and importantly, started the slow erosion of US worker wages and benefits.

    15) Through the appointment of James Watt, who claimed that the environment was "expendable" since the "second coming of Christ was at hand,", Reagan reduced clean water and air standards, reduced labor, mine, and industrial safety standards, and cut funding to supervisory and regulatory agencies charged with monitoring those industries.

    16) Increased the defense budget to 240% previous levels.

    17) Systematically ignored the beginning of the AIDS/HIV epidemic, blaming the victims publically.

18)The S&L collapse: Reagan's "elimination of loopholes" in the tax code included the elimination of the "passive loss" provisions that subsidized rental housing. Because this was removed retroactively, it bankrupted many real estate developments made with this tax break as a premise. This with some other "deregulation" policies ultimately led to the largest political and financial scandal in U.S. history: The Savings and Loan crisis. The ultimate cost of the crisis is estimated to have totaled around USD$150 billion, about $125 billion of which was consequently and directly subsidized by the U.S. government, which contributed to the large budget deficits of the early 1990s.

    19) Called ketchup a vegetable for the purposes of school-lunch funding and reduced early education and head-start funding.

    20) Symbolically ripped the solar panels, installed by Pres. Carter, from the WhiteHouse, and blamed trees for causing air pollution.

  • At least old Ron did not lie about who he was and where he came from and who his friends were. That is more than I can say for Obama. I am starting to believe that there is NO truth in anything the man says. Being a member of a church for 20 years where the leader is a racist really says it all. There should be an IQ test before people are allowed to vote.

  • In 1989 he left office with the highest approval rating of any president since Franklin Roosevelt.

Yes, Reagan had issues against him just as every President did. All in all, he was considered one of the greatest Presidents ever.

Now my observations about Obama's character was dead on, ain't no denying it examples of his dishonest character. Everything he does showes that he is in this for the power. Of course, it is also my opinion and I wrote how I came to it. Thanks for reading.

WOW Censored...definately think you stepped over the line there. First off by being crude to a VETERAN..someone who has actually been at the pointy end of the spear just so you can make derogatory comments like that. Second of all, RR was NEVER impeached, was NEVER convicted of ANY crime nor was he ever charged. Questioned yes, but never convivted of any crime. Unlike Mr. Bill who was quite nearly impeached and mark my words, so will Obama when all that he's doing behind our backs comes out into the light. RR did more good for this country than ALL of the democrat presidents going back to FDR. He stood up to the bad guys, looked them in the eye and shut them down. Wanna talk Taliban, ok, let's talk Mogadishu. Let's talk about why a president sent men into harms way, then pulled out because we lost a few soldiers. He should have sent MORE into the god forsaken place and wiped out the warlords and paved the way for democracy. Yet today that country has no goverment and that is one of the biggest reasons we have ships hit by pirates everyday. Remember we had NO issues with the Taliban until they became sponsors of terrists and allowed people like Bin Laden to use their country as a safe haven. THEN we had to do something.

I could go on but I have a JOB that calls to me. I guess it's my duty to work to help pay for all the parasites that suck "free" tax money off the hard working folk. Have a great day censored.

In my opinion - you are trash. Trashy writing, trashy mouth. Get a job. Acutally, maybe not. You need to live on the dole and get no more, no less than anyone else on the dole. Don't want you getting anything from the "lazy fat cats".

I want you to try and live without anything produced in companies that are owned by "lazy fat cats".

PLEASE, whatever you do, Do Not work for anyone. Do it on your own. See how far your lazy butt gets.

  • Mike, your fan club still loves you! I know who I can trust when it all goes down the drain (more). You take care and keep up the good work. Hope you feel better soon...ALOE and a lot of it. Be well and my best to the other 1/2!

  • Yep! I would have to say that Ronald Reagan has been the best U.S. President during the coarse of lifetime. So far.....but I'm still relatively young, so who knows?

I met him and his wife Nancy at the Boise airport once way back in the 70's when he was running for the Republican nomination against President Ford. At the time I was a long haired, maggot infested, FM type. Belay that last, and make it AM type because music wasn't as segmented as it is today, FM hadn't really taken off yet, so KFXD 630 on your AM dial was still the rock for most Southern Idaho teens.

Anyway the meeting was not grand or anything like that. I was just encouraged by a co-worker to go check out this Reagan guy...so I did. I forget as to which gate at the airport he arrived. But I do remember that at that time it was an actual chain link gate. I was just one of many along a fence line. But they both took the time to shake my hand with and to say hello. So I started to check him out further and listened to what he had to say. At a the time where I could have gone either way, this man and this man alone pretty much changed my life. I cast my very first vote for President for Ronald Reagan. In fact, I voted for him three times after that. To heck with the XXII Amendment.

Of coarse Reagan lost the nomination to President Ford which led to the worst U.S. President of my lifetime (Sooo far....) Jimmie Carter.

As luck would have it, I happened to be at President Reagan's last official campaign stop at a shopping mall parking lot in San Diego. And as luck would further have it I was fortunate to be outside of the convention center in D.C. for his second inauguration. Man it was cold on that day.

These are his words from his first inaugural address.

  • Beau, as always, great post. AM? Man did you date yourself with that one!

Mike, great post also. Are you doing better? So...I guess this is not the change that you believe in? You do not like the US being sold off one company at a time? You do not like to see job loss, daily, in 5 digits? You do not take comfort that soon our vehicles will all be made in Korea or China and sent to the US to be purchased by us, the taxpayers that bailed these same folks out? You do not like the idea that your children will soon have to move closer to a border so that they can get to work...in the only places where there will be jobs? Oh, and I guess you really did not want all of that money to go to the likes of AIG, GM, WAMU/Chase, etc. so that they could pocket the money and still FIRE record numbers of people? And this one is the best---bowing to a leader of another land and telling people how sorry he (Obama) is for the way Americans are. So, this is not the change you had in mind there huh Mike? How about this Muslim issue? This all kind of makes my head hurt and makes me glad I did not vote for someone who has such a dislike for his own people (hint...Americans) that is if he would ever prove where he is really from. Yep, change we can ALL believe in. I am sure Hitler said something like that as well before he rounded up the less than perfect people into rail cars and sent them to gas filled rooms or starved them to death. Yep, change at the hands of yet another "gifted" speaker who looks good in a suit/uniform. There should really be a test before a person is allowed to vote.

What will be left when it is all done?

  • "MHN,

Bravo and thank you for removing the foul commments made by censored!"

"censored, You are a one foul SOB!"

"censored In my opinion - you are trash."

    And the difference is???????

My point being, everyone has there own way of expressing dismay towards someone else. Granted, censored's POV was a little crass, but who are any of you to criticize when you post the same, more or less?

-- Posted by MrMister on Sun, Jun 7, 2009, at 12:05 AM
  • Do not even waste the time on MM. He likes to hunt wolf when he is not on here being arrogant and better than the rest of us. Pay him no attention and do not waste the key strokes or time on him. Sooner or later he goes back to the other blog to hunt the wolf...let him stay there. I am surprised he can even form a paragraph without bad words.

-- Posted by OpinionMissy on Sun, Jun 7, 2009, at 12:11 PM
  • Bazookaman,

If you look in the past, you'll see that I have been here for over a year; and you'll also see that I do NOT favor the liberals you speak of when you state "And we'll give your President all the respect you guys gave OURS."

Please do not categorize me as a liberal!

    Secondly,

My comment was regarding the difference between what Censored wrote and what other's wrote.

    i.e....

"censored, You are a one foul SOB!"

"In my opinion - you are trash."

As I said, although Censored's comment was crass, I was referring to the comments stated about him/his comments towards others. I mentioned nothing about the content of the blogs; they are informative.

    And OM,

"Do not even waste the time on MM. He likes to hunt wolf when he is not on here being arrogant and better than the rest of us. Pay him no attention and do not waste the key strokes or time on him. Sooner or later he goes back to the other blog to hunt the wolf...let him stay there. I am surprised he can even form a paragraph without bad words."

Meaning, do not waste your time on someone that has another opinion. And the arrogant thing again, what's up with that? Because I have an opinion I'm arrogant? You take the cake on that one, big girl. And I'm surprised you can even form a paragraph without belittling someone (or can you?) Twit.

Why don't you try and gather suppport for yourself by dismissing what those who disagree with you have to say? Oh wait, you've already done that...twit.

It hurts your feelings that someone else out here has an opinion, doesn't it?

    Kim,

Sorry for taking space on your blog but I won't just sit back when someone attacks.

  • Zookaman,

I was by no means defending him. I was just trying to highlight the irony of remarks.

    And yah,

I agree with you about the border situation. My philosophy has always been--Build a wall around the U.S.A., with the following posted at regular intervals--(expletive) with us if you will!

    No hard feelings...

  • I dont give Reagan a ton of credit but I can see his logic on some issues. The air traffic controllers union was unrealistic in their demands. Unions have a way of not representing the greater good. I have been in one and they are overrated. They are a business and so take actions that insure its financial well-being. Their well-being does not always help the individual members.

Alan Greenspan did a fabulous job and I challenge anyone to show how he did not. Reagan needed someone who could make the tough decisions and still communicate that to the public. Being able to speak in plain English does not mean that the man did not know his economics.

Reagan had very little to do with Gorbachev and his eventual actions. Reagan standing up to him meant nothing. Read his biography and one will know better. A small note from his high banker in Russia telling him that they were on the brink of bankruptcy was the primary motive for change. Their being so broke meant that the once mighty Russian military was falling into disrepair. Salaries were not being paid and machines not fixed. This was the true reason for glasnost not Reagan being the take-no-crap leader.

He was a good president and did what he could. Like all politicians, he did what he could and politicized the rest.

  • CJW,

I am well aware of the meaning of the comment. As I've stated, although Censored's comment was crass, I was referring to the comments stated about him/his comments towards others. There's a little irony here, that was my point.

And no, I don't have children, but if I did, I wouldn't want them to be taught a lot of the behavior on the BB, including, yes, my behavior at times also.

-- Posted by MrMister on Mon, Jun 8, 2009, at 4:11 PM
  • Bazookaman, thanks for your comments. As usual, you focus on the hard truth. There will never be a President like Reagan. His across the board support from all parties was monumental and probably will never happen again. Sadly, those who support Obama, (63% approval rate)are sheep! It is so sad that those who voted for him and have even voiced their opposition to alot of what he has done these past four months will continue to praise his virtues. It is almost as if they have no choice but to grin and bear it because to oppose him now, though it is the smart thing to do, wouldn't be advisable. If you oppose anything that this man does you are obviously a rascist. No sound reasoning will suffice. The man is the first black president! The media will tiptoe around the evidence of his incompetence and report on the status of his dog before they will admit to his faults. Fortunately, we still live in a free country and those of us who openly oppose him, can still enjoy our right of free speech, at least for now. I can only hope that we will stand firm until a time when we may be able to boot the current government and re-establish our forefather's nation. We are still the people and do believe that our government should be working for the people and laws should be made by the people. We, the people, do still believe, that in order to bring back a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, might have to ordain and re-establish our Constitution for the United States of America.

Twil, there will be MORE consequences as we roll right along this track. Some things take time to ferment. Now we have another foreign power in charge of one of our companies. Reading the news Fiat plans on building smaller more environmentally friendly cars. Apparently they can't read english when companies like Toyota admit cars like the Prius have nearly dropped off the map what with lower gas prices. Ahhh now I understand...gas prices go up and Toyota sells small cars. Now I understand why we are witholding supply to drive up demand..hmmmm

-- Posted by mhbouncer on Wed, Jun 10, 2009, at 12:32 PM
  • MHBouncer, good points. This fallacy that Obama is some power-hungry fascist is garbage. That's my point. He may have other misgivings and all that jazz but he is not Mussolini or Caecescu. Certain individuals here like to dress things with superlatives and exaggerate things...

Fiat (errr.. GM) is going to have issues dealing with UAW or whatever form it takes in the future and American stockholders who tend to take a short term view. Americans like excess and will not deal well with a car that is fuel efficient but slow. Lowering our demands is common sense but few are going to do it without the economy forcing change.

Bazooka, there is no "fairness" in the fairness doctrine. It's being used as a way to sew the mouths shut of those who speak up against the government. It's being used as a tool to quiet those who oppose the criminal acts taking place. If they get their way will the leftists let Hannity or O'Reilly have air time on NPR? MSNBC? CNN? You'd be out of your mind to believe THAT would happen. How about getting O'Reilly a seat on the View? Now that would something to set the DVR for.

  • Politicians on both sides of the fence are remarkably cowardly. Bush would not talk on a show when it was hostile territory. Politicians are in the business of looking good for their supporters. Why would they risk getting caught in a lie so that some whack-job radio host with little scientific knowledge of the issues can slam them. This is not just some excuse for the left because those on the right are equally gutless.

Why I do neleive you are right Mr. and from what remember he probably won't be on again any time soon. I was refering to him being a permanent host there.

As for the 4 detainees (terrorists). We took them to a territory of a soveign nation without their permission. Bermuda is a protectorat just as Puerto Rico is for us. If Breat Britain had dropped off 4 terroists in PR I'm pretty sure we would have them up by the short hairs. ALthough thinking about it, Obabma would probably bring them to the US so we can house and feed them with tax payer money so they won't kill any of us any more.

You know if that's the case, let's just let all the people in death row in this country go. Set them up in a house, give them welfare. At least these people are citizens and only killed a couple people each. None of these guys (and gals) professed to wanting the whole United States wiped off the planet. Think of the BILLIONS we would save by doing this. Wouldn't need all those security guards and prisons. Nope..wait..I'm wrong..we would need them for all the people picked up with a joint as their 3rd strike.

  • Come on now, if Obama was a power hungry fascist he would shut down this channel and all others. Fear mongering and exaggerating are signs that you cant back what you say up logically. It is simple psychology, those who try to conjure fear usually have some other agenda other than just informing the public. Hitler and Mussolini did not rule in countries that were as strong economically as ours. Those nations were recovering from the devastation of WWI. Hmmmm.. there was no devastating war here recently. Maybe there are delusional types who will argue otherwise but lets be sane, sober, and realistic.
