Every Christmas season it gets worse!

I'm appalled! I'm angry! But we all know that anger is an emotion that we use to cover the real feelings so I'll admit that what I'm really feeling is scared to death! Every year, as the Christmas season starts (earlier and earlier, I might add) the media and others find some reason to make it secular and remove more and more of our traditions. The stores are so afraid of offending someone (a minority of loud people) that Merry Christmas has been replaced with Happy Holidays! Santa, who is not a religious figure, is cautioned not to call out, Ho Ho Ho! We don't want to offend any ladies! Cities can no longer use anything that can symbolize religion in their "holiday" displays. And as we all know, many can distort anything to make it seem like it is a symbol of religion. Even the Christmas tree has been attacked. Schools can no longer put anything in their classrooms that could offend or be connected to religion. Kids can't celebrate the richness of what the season is all about anymore. Instead, they can only ccelebrate the fictional characters. Everyone who has spent a lifetime of meaningful Christmas celebrations will tell you how much has changed. The reasons for celebrating are becoming so distorted and meaningless that all we have to sustain us are memories from days gone by. I cherish those days when Christmas was a world-wide celebration filled with hope and love.

Last night, I saw the news where the Washington State Governor has allowed an Atheist sign declaring that anyone who believes in God is stupid. The display reads "At this season of the Winter Solstice may reason prevail. There are no gods, no devils, no angels, no heaven or hell. There is only our natural world. Religion is but myth and superstition that hardens hearts and enslaves minds." Anger and fear can't begin to explain how I felt as I read that. At this time of the year when everyone is supposed to get in touch with giving, hope, joy, peace, love and all the warm fuzzies of the cold season, an atheist can display a sign that is devoid of everything that we have held dear about our Christmas. I can't understand how that display is a good thing for anyone. This is not a sign about allowing other people to show their beliefs. It was a direct attack on every human being in America who believes in God. It tells us that we, 90% of the country, are mindless enslaved idiots. Why, why why would any sane person in goverment think that showing this display is helpful and tolerant? What is going on in this world?

I don't know Kim you made some very good points, its really hard to know that 15 percent of the Country has the finally ruling to what X-Mas is all about and I don't have a clue where its all going to end up at

I don't think 90% of America is stupid. Closer to 70, or whatever it was that Obama got.

Saw a bumper sticker once that had fiery flames on it with the caption "If you don't believe in God....you'd better be RIGHT!

Take a trip through Revelations, Kim. All this is called for, including Obama.

Kim, great post. The state of things in this world is very sad. We have allowed people to make rules and now we are "lost" in the mess. It really makes you think. AW, you are a bit different (not a bad thing) and I am glad the gang did not run you off. Elmore County has a problem with "original" thinkers. Be yourself AW...life is too short.

I agree with everything you've mentioned in your blog, but I need to remind you as I do everyone else. Regardless of what the government controls in our public places, outside of our homes, we dictate what happens within them. We must hold fast to our traditions because eventually, hopefully soon, someone with some sense will abolish the insanity of "political correctness" and allow the people to return to their roots. The days of "It's a Wonderful Life" and other such Christmas classics are now more fairy tale and fiction than they ever were. So to all you naysayers I close with this. "MERRY CHRISTMAS!!"

For the rest of you a Merry Christmas as well and may the Lord smile upon you and yours.

AyreWolf: I Still cry at hearing Silent Night as well as quite a few other carols. We are losing our world!

bazookaman: We are like sheep! When at least 90% of the country (may be alittle less since last time it was surveyed) believe in a Higher Power, how can 10% of the country tell us that we are mindless enslaved people with hard hearts? Well, Bazook-Revelations is a pretty scarey book of the Bible and I've studied it many times. Yes, at the risk of sounding completely nuts, these are the days!

OpinionMissy: Thanks for your comments. Yes, I guess I am a bit different and I love trying to be a thinker though it can give me a headache!

And finally---Papa Kiel: You are so right! I must keep Christmas alive within my own family. At least right now, we still have some freedoms in our own homes.

Thanks to everyone who reads my blog!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Goes for me too, Kim. Merry Christmas. You have a GREAT Blog, which I find very refreshing, especially whenever I came out of the rubble of one of mine.

Stay IN there!
