Dump Cake

Posted Sunday, April 10, 2011, at 5:48 PM

30 ounce can(s) cherry pie filling

30 ounce can(s) crushed pineapple-drained

1-Pkg yellow cake mix

1-Cup butter/margarine- melted

1-Cup coconut

1-Cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Spread pie filling evenly in bottom of greased 13x9 baking dish

Arrange pineapple over cherry pie filling.

Sprinkle with cake mix

Cover with melted butter/margarine

Top with coconut and nuts

Bake for 1 hour or until done.

If you want a topping on the baked cake you have decide what you would like to put on it. I would think Ice Cream or Cool Whip would go nicely on it when served.

I haven't tryed this recipe yet but it sure looks good to me and am going to try it after I pick up a couple of items.

Its been going on for years.... It starts at noon and goes until around 4 but some linger and if they have a good crowd it could end after 5.... Pat will be there cooking... Its open to the public anyone can go. You don't have to be an American legion member. It's right there beside the hall on their lawn... They have some who play horseshoes some sit and play cards and some just go for the food and beer :) I should be there sometime, not sure when.

MsM I see you asked a question I never answered but here is the answers. I loved the dump cake but felt it needed more cherry pie filling and crushed pineapple. So I increased the pie filling amount to 30 ounces and same with the pineapple which I haven't done yet but will in the next few days.

Eagle_eye; you can do the dutch oven at home or camping. It is always good eating using a dutch oven where ever it might be. I try to use mine as much as possible.

Yum as always Joe. Thanks! Love the dutch oven idea. Thanks again Joe. Great stuff just in time for Easter. Hope you are feeling better Joe. Take care of yourself and keep that foot up.

Thanks for the comments.

knyman: looks like some good tips you added to help out the low cal people. Are you talking about the dutch oven out camping or at home.

This recipe is good in the dutch oven if your into dutch oven cooking.

For the diet cconscious...

Use diet 7Up, sprite, or sierra mist instead of the butter.

Use a sugar free cake mix as well as the low/no sugar pie filling and friut.

This should put it to a low cal dessert.

New recipes sounds so yummy but not for this diet conscious lady, find me something with few calories.
