Change of pace for the day to remember what tomorrow is

9-11 in NYC, Twin Towers
I got this article from a person that wrote into a Newspaper back East and thought I would share it will you folks.

SEPT. 11, 2001: We're giving you a day to prepare.

Dawn Pletcher, co-director of Goodies for our Troops in Wellsboro, passes along a worthy suggestion about tomorrow's anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, the day when the entire country was shocked and galvanized into a renewed sense of patriotism.

Her suggestion is simple. Display your American flag.

Every home, apartment, office and store ought to fly the flag in acknowledgement of the eighth anniversary of this tragic event in American history.

Dawn writes, "We do this to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11/01, their families, friends and loved ones who continue to endure the pain, and those who today are fighting at home and abroad to preserve our cherished freedoms."

"In the days, weeks and months following 9/11/01, our country was bathed in American flags as citizens mourned the incredible losses and stood shoulder-to-shoulder against terrorism. Sadly, those flags have all but disappeared. Our patriotism pulled us through some tough times and it shouldn't take another attack to galvanize us in solidarity. Our American flag is the fabric of our country and together we can prevail over terrorism of all kinds."

She adds, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if everyone flew the red-white-and-blue every day like right after 9/11/01 when you couldn't buy an American flag anywhere because they were all sold out?"

Just remember to always show the proper respect of our American flag, not to be out at night unless lighted, how to bring to half staff, how to take it down and fold it and the list goes on which has been posted before.

On my trip this weekend I believe I will be LOOKING for flags. I will bring home a picture of the one that catches my eye. Have a good weekend.

And Thanks, Joe, for the reminder.

Yes, and let us also remember those terrorists which will be released by our current President to live with us. Let us remember that many are educated in the US and live with us. Let us also remember that our President has made the choice to befriend these people as well.

Let us remember why so many died on that day. Let us remember on this day why people continue to die as a result of 9/11. Let us remember the people who fight for OUR freedom only to have OUR Government release some of the people involved in this event. Let us remember the actual events of 9/11 as opposed to what will be written in years to come.

Great post Joe. Thanks. I remember where I was. I was in the bedroom dressing for work when I turned on the TV. I saw the plane going into the first tower and the fire. I thought it was a Die Hard repeat and could not figure out why it was on prime time...then I saw the "LIVE" at the bottom of the screen. I picked up the phone and called my husband at work. He had no idea what was going on. I told him to look on the computer. He did and said "I have to go." I went to work at Hacker that day. It was on TV in darn near every classroom (before the kids came in). I remember going home that night to pack my husband's bags and go over the "check list." It was a day that forever changed my life and that of my husband and millions of other lives as well.

On this day and all others, I remember. Thank you to all who have served, do serve and will serve. Thank you to everyone who preserves my freedoms and rights. On this day and all others, I remember. Thank you!
