1 Cup water 3/4 Cup shortening 1 1/2 Cups sugar 2 Large eggs 1 Tsp vanilla 2 1/2 Cups flour 1/2 Tsp baking powder 1 Tsp baking soda 1 Tsp salt 1 Tsp cinnamon 1/2 Ground cloves 2 Cups oats 1/2 Cup diced walnuts Simmer raisins and water in a sauce pan over low heat until raisins are plump about 20 to 30 minutes Drain liquid from the raisins into measuring cup and add enough water to make 1/2 cup Mix shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla, stir in the raisin liquid Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices. Mix in the oats, nuts and raisins Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet Bake at 400 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I never simmered the raisins before; I'll have to try that. This is the best reciper ever; I think it's the one I use.
