How could anybody squish somebody and not know it?Posted Wednesday, November 12, 2008, at 7:23 PM
If your doing the compacting of paper even cardboard how could you not see the blood and all oozing out as your squishing a human body? Wouldn't someone yell or make some kind of notice. I still think something is foul there and there is more to the story than what is being reported on the news. Still having an ear ache, but no luck finding a solution, to unplug it. But getting back here how could one squas a human body and not know? L8R AyreWolf Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Having seen how a bale of paper is compressed, I can understand how no one saw or heard anything. Not only is the product being compacted in an enclosed area, all you can hear is the high whine of hydrulics and electric engines. Add into this that the worker has to wear hearing protection and you can see why no on hear anything. As for not seeing, think of the machine used like a trash compactor on steriods. It is huge and sealed to prevent anything from flying out. If you get a chance see the report KTVB did on the compaction process. They did a good job of telling it how it truly is. The process is definitley not a quiet nor clean process.
Normally the operator stays in an area that is safe for them and they cannot see what happens inside the compactor nor can they see what fluids might be pressed out as these would come out the bottom and are usually sent to a holding tank that they cannot see.
