While I like being able to blog and so on, I wonder why someone would just notice a photo and just comment on that rather than the toppic that was brought up. That said. Old does not mean dead. Just because a tow rig is old does not mean its not ready for action. Sure there are roll-backs also called carriers, out there great for hauling bad for recovery work. While many newer hydraulic units do recover well, older split booms like on my Holmes 500 on the back of my mechanical soul mate , can recover much better and with less effort than newer equipment. Not saying newer equipment is not good, but my older trucks can keep up with and in many cases out-perform many newer rigs. The current industry standard certification programs teach the benefits of running a wheel-lift, few teach the older art of using th reliable sling. Those two straps on steel can handle many jobs that a wheel-lift can't. As far as towing badly damaged rigs with all wheel drive etc. The sling with dolly's can still move and groove with anything newer including Carriers. Carriers are great for transporting, but serious accident operations benefit from using some of the older equipment. Finally if your going to comment, please stick to the subject or don't comment.
HAAAAAA!! Good luck with thinking you can tell people what kind of comments to make. You're opening yourself up for all kinds of things you may not want to hear.
P.S. I totally agree with you that "old does not mean dead". I imagine that your rig can stand up to just about anything out there.
There were two topics in that column. One was TV, the other was the PIC with the caption "back of one of my trucks," which wasn't exactly on topic for the article you wrote. So this morning you write about tow trucks and that we should stay on topic. Nothing makes me think of television more than seeing the back end of a stolen towtruck. (I know the truck itself is not stolen, but the truck in the photo is not yours, just similar to yours. Why not put photos of your truck up there? You've had them on your other blogs and it would keep people like me from pointing out that the photo was "borrowed," from another website. The truth will set you free.
What topic? In every post of his, he starts out with one, then rambles aimlessly through about 3-7 other topics. Stick to "toppic", indeed.
