Glenns Ferry property must be made of gold

Check this out fellow haulers and aviators. In June 2008 at a quiet lunch meeting in Rupert Idaho a bunch of us who are members of the Rode Knytes Association that is a related cousin of the AyreWolves/BlackSheep Vintage Aviation Association. To make this get to the point. We all got together ate and considered many places to put down roots for not only our organization but I looked to Glenns Ferry as where I wanted to settle down. Okay there is this stretch of I-84 that I don't know how many times I drive it that I don't see somone broke down, somehow. Now granted they might not need towing but some gas, fix a flat but needs help any way. So with the consideration of the AyreWolves/BlackSheep Vintage Aviation Association a warbird rebuild restoration organization of building a hanger and helping to give a real kick to an aging airport, I began looking at shop space or trying to find one in or very near to Glenns Ferry. Guess what? None to be found at least for decent rent. One wants nearly $200,000.00 and the other might as well be that. The idea here is to build business. The so called revitalization committee of Glenns Ferry is getting nearly free by the way a very small shop, that would suit me fine. Thinking here that Glenns Ferry is cutting its nose off to spite its face. If I move , say to Mountain Home to get my specialty heavy truck shop started and towing service, guess what? The AyreWolves look there too, likewise the thoughts of building a radio/TV station and making the old Trophy Club there the HQ of the organization leaves and why dump $500,000.00 plusinto the airport when I can't even get someone here to render up a shop for me to use unil I can buy property here and build my own shop? Surely a shop rented to me for a say $200.00 or so a month would not kill anyone since both real Estate, and economic factors are in dire need, right now. But No, even if I am willing to put in improvements on the property like water, electricity etc. The bottom line is this. I have a shop in Rupert , I have a years lease here in Glenns Ferry, that means I stay the year and look to both Mountain Home as well as where the shop is currently. People in Glenns Ferry gripe about no jobs etc, well if the put the brakes on me and considering the 20 plus paying, well paying jobs by the way, that would be the result of our work at the airport, and the consideration of a truck stop here in GF, as well as the jobs that would result from both the TV and/or radio station/network here, I say quit griping. Next Blog, why here.

Not a month out of Pocatello, and already expecting businessmen in Glenns Ferry to bow to you mightiness, and look out for the badmouthing to come if they don't. Why would anyone rent a funtioning commercial building for 200 per month? The taxes alone are probably more than that. While the federal government may be into subsidizing other businesses, no self respecting businessman will give commercial welfare to a possible business competitor for less than what the property is costing them in taxes, insurance and upkeep.
