The HangoverPosted Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at 11:41 AM
What happens when you combine a stranded baby, a stolen tiger and an air-drumming Mike Tyson, you get just a few of the wild moments in The Hangover (Rated R). In the film, Doug (Justin Bartha), is about to be married and his two best friends Phil (Bradley Cooper) and Stu (Ed Helms) and his brother in law Allen (Zack Galifinakis) plan a bachelor party for Doug in Las Vegas. The night after the party, chaos ensued, as the room is in shambles and the groom comes up missing. Stu, Allan, and Phil go on the search of their lost friend and try to remember the events of one wild night in Vegas. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, or in the case of The Hangover, some guys just can't handle Vegas. Todd Phillips, whose best known for his last film Old School delivers another comedic classic. This movie from start to finish was a laugh out loud riot, sure there was more that when on in the film, but for the online readers I won't go into those details. The b-level cast for the lead roles, was an odd but an effectivly humerous bunch with Bartha (National Treasure), Cooper (He's Just Not That Into You), Helms whose a regular reporter on The Daily Show With Jon Stewart and the stand-up comedy of Galifinakis. Sure if you are one who is easily offended, this might not be the movie for you, but if you were a fan of Old School, you'll love The Hangover. I would say that staying for the closing credits, is worth seeing as well, usually films throw bonus rather humerous or pointless footage, but The Hangover's credits are worth waiting for. If you want to know what happens during the bachelor party, you'll know during the closing credits. I hate to say it, even though I saw it three times in Biloxi, I Love You, Man is no longer my Best Comedy of the Year, that goes to The Hangover. The Reel Revue will be back next time with my review for The Taking of Pelham 123 starring John Travolta and Denzel Washington. Now you've read my review, here's what some fellow critics thought of The Hangover.
