The 2009 ESPY awards is in the books. Samuel L. Jackson was great as the host, the night featured several special award presentations that included:

Arthur Ashe Courage Award: President Nelson Mandela

Jimmy V Award For Perseverance: Don Meyer, Northern State University coach

Best Comeback: Dara Torres, Olympic swimmer.

Now here is a breakdown of the several key awards and how well I predicted the winners:

Best Female Athlete: Nastia Liukin, Gymnastics

I PREDICTED: Serena Williams (0 for 1)

Best Male Athlete: Michael Phelps, Olympic Swimming

I PREDICTED: Michael Phelps (1 for 2)

Best Moment: US Swim team wins thrilling finish in Olympic relay

I PREDICTED: Tim Tebow's speech, but looking back on it the swim team finish was remarkable. (1 for 3)

Best Team: Los Angeles Lakers

I PREDICTED: The Pittsburgh Steelers, sure I am a California guy, but I thought the Steelers pulled off a more successful year, even though the Lakers did go wire to wire as the West's top seed and eventual champions. (1 for 4)

Best Coach/Manager: Phil Jackson, Los Angeles Lakers

I PREDICTED: Geno Auriema (1 for 5, am I the only one noticing a pattern here), this was a close call the award could have gone to either coach.

Best Game: Steelers vs. Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII

I PREDICTED: I got one right, Super Bowl XLIII (2 for 6)

Best Championship Performance: Michael Phelps, Olympic Swimming

I PREDICTED: Michael Phelps, how can I pick against winning eight gold medals. (3 for 7)

Best Play: Roethlisberger to Holmes Super Bowl Winning TD

I PREDICTED: Michael Crabtree's catch against Texas, I'll admit this was a bit of a biased choice, as Crabtree will soon don the gold and red of the 49ers. (3 for 8)

Best Upset: US Soccer shocks Spain in the Confederations Cup semifinals.

I PREDICTED: Tampa Bay Rays defeats the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS and goes on to the World Series; another award that could have gone either way. (3 for 9)

Best Breakthrough Athlete: Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

I PREDICTED: Matt Ryan, how can you not vote against Ryan and the impact he made bringing a team from the abyss of shame that was left by Michael Vick (4 for 10)

Best Record Breaking Performance: Michael Phelps, Olympic Swimming

I PREDICTED: Usain Bolt for breaking the 100m and the 200m world records (4 for 11)

Best Sports Movie: The Express: The Ernie Davis Story

I PREDICTED: This was probably the one award, I had the most problem with (and no not because I am a fan of pro wrestling) but The Wrestler was clearly the better film. I never saw The Express, but this is a clear case of ESPN hating on pro wrestling. (4 for 12)

Best Male College Athlete: Tim Tebow, Florida Football

I PREDICTED: Tebow (5 for 13)

Best Female College Athlete: Maya Moore, Connecticut Women's Basketball

I PREDICTED: Moore (6 for 14)

Best Baseball Player: Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals

I PREDICTED: Ryan Howard (6 for 15)

Best NBA Player: LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers

I PREDICTED: Lebron James (7 for 16)

Best WNBA Player: Candace Parker, Los Angeles Sparks

I PREDICTED: Diana Taurasi (7 for 17)

Best NFL Player: Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals

I PREDICTED: Peyton Manning (7 for 18)

Best NHL Player: Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins

I PREDICTED: SID THE KID (8 for 19)

Best MLS Player: Landon Donovan, Los Angeles Galaxy

I PREDICTED: Landon Donovan (9 for 20)

Best Bowler: Norm Duke

I PREDICTED: Wes Malott (9 for 21)

Best Driver: Jimmie Johnson

I PREDICTED: Helio Castraneves (9 for 22)

Best Fighter: Manny Pacquiao, Boxing

I PREDICTED: Shane Moseley (9 for 23)

Best Male Golfer: Tiger Woods

I PREDICTED: Tiger Woods (10 for 24)

Best Female Golfer: Lorena Ochoa

I PREDICTED: Lorena Ochoa (11 for 25)

Best Jockey: Calvin Borel

I PREDICTED: Calvin Borel (12 for 26)

Best Male Tennis Player: Roger Federer

I PREDICTED: Roger Federer (13 for 27)

Best Female Tennis Player: Serena Williams

I PREDICTED: Serena Williams (14 for 28)

Well there you have it I was 50-50 on picking the winners at the ESPY's, now if only the Oscars was this easy.
