Worst Movies of 2008 (1-5)

Posted Monday, December 29, 2008, at 4:28 PM

1. The Love Guru

This by far away, one of the worst films I have ever seen, and as much as I'm a fan of Mike Myers for classics like Wayne's World and Austin Powers, I was embarassed for him after seeing this movie, thank goodness, I didn't see it in theatres.

2. Beverly Hills Chihuahua

As much as I like movies with the personification of animals, like Underdog and Doctor Dolittle, this movie was just 100% corny and went highly overboard on the stereotypes. Drew Barrymore, you deserved better, way better.

3. You Don't Mess With The Zohan

I would have hoped Adam Sandler ended his string of box office duds, like Click and I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, but this movie was just as bad, and he gets paid 20 million dollars a film, WOW!.

Gone are the days where he has made decent movies like Happy Gilmore or The Wedding Singer.

It seems no matter what the premise, a world controlled by a universal remote control, two firefighters marrying each other or a Israeli secret agent (which personally I felt was a cheap knockoff of Borat), the result remains the same, DUD, DUD, DUD.

4. Stepbrothers

If not for the other movies, on this list, I would have ranked this higher. Now first off, I am a huge Will Ferrell fan, Talladega Nights, Anchorman and even Blades of Glory are like classics.

With Semi-Pro, it was little off the pace of Ferrell's previous films, but I gave it the benefit of the doubt knowing that his next film Stepbrothers which reunited him with John C. Reilly from Talladega Nights would make up for it, boy was I wrong.

This movie had hardly any funny moments, it was just one vulgar joke after another, and Ferrell singing opera at the end, what was up with that?

5. My Best Friend's Girl

Despite the reviews, I've read about Dane Cook and his acting, I think is a little harsh, he is a decent actor and his supporting role in Mr. Brooks was great.

However, Dane should just stick to stand up comedy, coming off flops like Employee of the Month and the horrific Good Luck Chuck, simply put just stick to stand up Dane, please I beg of you.

I do have to hand it to him, even though these movies were bombs, who doesn't want to work with Jessica Simpson, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson, on that I gotta give him credit.

I notice a trend here: All of your picks were comedies. While I appreciate your opinion, I REALLY feel there were worse movies out there; Twilight anyone? Meet Dave? Babylon A.D.?

Not everyone likes comedies, and there are different flavors of comedy. Maybe picking movies from a few genres might have been better.

Okay these were out of movies I have seen this year, I wasn't able to see Meet Dave or Babylon, and Twilight wasn't among the worst I've seen. Besides a bulk of the movies this year were comedies anyway.

I saw zohan, I would have walked out if it wasn't so expensive, it was the dumbest movie I'd seen in a long time.
