Ode To A LegendPosted Monday, June 30, 2008, at 5:26 PM
Last week, stand up comedy lost a legend. George Carlin passed away at age 71 to heart failure.
A noted piece of Carlin's material is now the infamous "7 words you cant say on Television" Carlin was not ashamed to say what was on his mind and he didn't care who he offended, especially religion. Never before, has a comedian made you laugh and made you think at the same time. I personally have a been a long time fan of stand up comedy and truly no one ever made me laugh like Carlin. Alot of critics when considering greatest stand-ups of all time, would say Richard Pryor was the greatest, unfortunately I never heard any of Pryor's material so to me George will and forever be the best. I will continue to listen to some of the current stars like Lewis Black or Dave Attell, but George to me is in a league all of his own and I will miss him. Will the world ever see another one like George Carlin, who knows? In homage, to George, I will be ending my future blogs with classic Carlin quotes like: "When someone asks you, A penny for your thoughts, and you put your two cents in, what happens to the other penny? |
