Pursell wasn't a stronger to the city, having graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1959.

Today, he spends his time just trying to stay busy with yard work and occasionally volunteering at the Senior Citizen Center.

He calls the center 'the best thing to happen to us," referring to his family.

Before his dad's death, Pursell said receiving his meal on wheels meal was the highlight of his dad's day.

"The meals on wheels, the activities, the things they do for seniors are fantastic," he said.

To show his appreciation for the Center, Pursell volunteers to drive the Center's bus.

Having made it a career, driving is nothing new to Pursell, who said he likes to get out and go some place different.

He got out and went a lot of places different when he enlisted in the Navy in 1959.

While in the Navy, Pursell served with two familiar faces on his ship, his brothers Dave and Bill. The three, along with a brother on another ship, were radar men.

Neither brother would make the Navy a career and Bob would be the first to get out in 1963 because their father had been in the military and he was tired of moving.

"All my dad did was travel. I wanted to set roots for my children," he said.

So he got out and went about setting down roots for his family.

Thirty-five years later, he returned to his own roots where he can be with his mother and brothers.
