Road trip suggestions?

Posted Sunday, July 5, 2009, at 2:12 PM

I'm going to leave on a 2,228-mile road trip from here to Georgia in a couple of weeks. Anyone have any suggestions of places that would be worth checking out on the way?

Thanks.

I would say avoid the world's biggest trailer park otherwise known as Rock Springs, WY. The town was as inviting as Grizzly sow without her cub when I was there.

You didn't say what route you are taking and there is alot of Interstate systems running across the country and don't know how you figured the mileage must have been one of those internet systems lol. Based on my travels across the country on I-80, I-70 and some others it all depends what you looking for to see or stay away from. Sometimes the old 2 lane road offer more than the Interstate system.

One thing you can do is give my daughter Denice a hug from her family, when you get to Atlanta.

Lambert's Home of the Thrown Roll in Sikeston MO. It is a must stop if you are within a 100 miles of it.

The Cowboy Hall of Fame Museum in Oklahoma City, if you're headed that way.

If you're going across Texas, the Confederate Air Force Museum in Midland is a definitely worthwhile stop.

And if you're droppig down through Arizona first, before heading east, the route through Monument Valley is a MUST.

DENVER..............if you're going through THERE.......do it late at night or early in the morning. Freeway traffic through there makes I-84 through Boise look like a farm road.

The idea behind Robert's Random is for me to write about whatever I'm thinking about whenever I'm thinking it. I try to write 3-5 times a week, but sometimes real work gets in the way of that. Sometimes I'll share whatever random thought I might have that day but most of the time, I like to write about things going on in the news. I'm a total news junkie, I spend a lot of time online at various news sites. If I find a story where someone does something totally stupid or I wonder "what were they thinking?" I don't mind pointing it out incase others missed it or taking my best guess at what they were thinking. I like to laugh, I like to make others laugh. There's so much serious and wrong stuff going on in the news that when I find an unusual or light story, I like to use it. And while real life news events might be the focus of many of my blogs, I'm just trying to entertain you, make you laugh and maybe even think about something you didn't know before reading. I'm not trying to break any serious news or deliver any hard-hitting coverage. You'll have to read a paper or watch one of the network shows for that.
