The Paper Isn't COMPLETELY Worthless

Posted Monday, November 24, 2008, at 8:46 AM

A few months after my wife and I were married, she said she wanted to take out a subscription to the Idaho Statesman.

I've NEVER been a fan of that paper, as I get MY news on the radio, which has always proven to be considerably more accurate. (Which is why the liberals want it shut down).

"Whatever makes ya happy, sweetie." And so she did, and for the next 3 years, she read it nearly cover to cover. I'd occasionally read the classifieds, the comics and work the crossword puzzles.

The paper is also handy for keeping paint off the garage floor when I'm out there spraying projects. Additionally, I spread it out on the table while I'm cleaning my guns.

Once in awhile I'd respond to some of the idiots the paper caters to in the "Letters to the Editor" Some got printed, most did not, as you'd expect from a left wing rag....even in a right wing state.

My wife is NOT political, but does not trust Obama, and as this campaign went on, she started to see for herself, what I have said all along, about the heavily biased coverage, the slamming political cartoons, and their printing of six or eight "pro-Obama" letters, for each one or two for McCain. (I had, by this time, nicknamed the Idaho Statesman as the "Boise 'Bama Booster.")

Anyway, she asked me the other day, if I would mind it, if she CANCELLED our subscription.

"Not a bit, babe!"

We'll just let the subscription run out, though, as it's almost over anyway, and it'll give me some time to collect enough issues for my paint and gun projects...........the Statesman isn't COMPLETELY worthless!

In a way, it's kind of "fitting" to me, using a left wing newspaper to soak up a little bore solvent and gun oil!

I get a REAL kick out of finding Budweiser beer cans, and shooting them FULL of holes when I go out to the pits.(Anheiser-Busch has donated a LOT of money to gun ban organizations).

Wendy's has too, but paper coke cups don't really make good targets.

Occasionally I get one of AARP's pieces of junkmail in my mailbox or on my E-Mail, and I ALWAYS respond to them that I don't support ANY franchise that donates money towards trying to take away my rights............(I PARTICULARLY enjoy responding to them through their regular mail advertisements, because they have to pay the postage BOTH WAYS......which by itself, won't break their bank account, but it makes ME feel better!

And so this morning, I am PROUD to say that the delivery days of the "Boise 'Bama Booster" to THIS address are numbered...........and I understand a TON of people have cancelled their subscriptions over this election alone, especially after their public endorsement for Obama (which we all knew anyway).

Fair and unbiased reporting, eh? Personally, I hope they lose so much business, that they go OUT of business!

He's already released a copy of his birth certificate verified by independent groups, two newspapers in 1961 carried his birth announcement - and even if you distrust those two newspapers what precisely was their motive at the time for planting an infant's name in their birth announcements? - and, I don't believe I've mentioned this before - the director of the Hawaii health department says his records on file are in order - I don't know who appointed her but the governor of Hawaii is a Republican and friend of Palin's.

Why SHOULD he have to go any further? At what point should Obama get to draw the line and tell people grasping at ridiculous straws to grow up and accept that more Americans preferred Obama, who the evidence indicates WAS born in Hawaii, to lead the country than McCain? I haven't even seen evidence yet he has Kenyan medical records, just allegations they've been sealed Obama won't open them.

It doesn't matter at ALL, any more than the Constitution does, Ex........we just make up our own rules as we go along.

Let's say you're right about this.........my goodness, you are eternally correct. WHY is Obama STILL refusing to sign a consent form to release hospital records in Kenya?

What the heck would it matter to HIM "what's in there?"

Reminds me of Area 51. For decades, the government said it didn't exist...........yet hundreds of people could see it out there on Groom Lake with their high-powered binoculars.

If they had just told the public that it was a security base, closed to the general public, it wouldn't have drawn NEAR the attention that it has.

But whether or not there's anything to it, is really a moot point. This election was bought and paid for and your boy was protected by everybody from Alan Coombs to Paula Zahn, while they wenr after Palin with an ax....and she was only running for the second spot.

Aw hell............why go into it. You guys pulled it off. And Obama's VP pick is INSURANCE that no Republican will actually push this issue. If Obama was somehow disqualified now, there'd be riots, burnings, cars overturned and demonstrations that would clogged the system completely............and THEN we'd be stuck with Joe Biden.

That WAS a brilliant choice on Obama's part, (if in fact he made it himself).

Yes, it should, are you in the habit of second-guessing this week's birth announcements in the Mountain Home News? What did Hawaii's voting patterns matter when Obama was born and the birth announcement submitted to the local papers?

I do NOT seek a conservative newspaper or television station, Ex-Intern............that would make me no better than people on YOUR side.

I would like for ONCE, to pick up a newspaper, no matter WHICH one......or turn on a television station, no matter WHICH one...........and read or see an EQUAL amount of coverage of BOTH SIDES!

Ain't gonna happen, amigo. Ain't gonna happen.

That's why there ARE talk radio programs like Hannity & Savage...so SOME bastion of TRUTH can get out there, which is why YOUR side wants to shut it down. The ONLY message you want to people to hear is that of the left.

And it was ultra successful these past two years. Brokaw and friends did a magnificent job of distortion and deception, as always.

Curious thing.........most people don't listen to radio news. Radio news doesn't gome with pictures or sexy looking anchor women......radio news isn't all that entertaining. Yet there is a fear among your crowd, and ENOUGH to have spurred on this drive to force talk radio off the air.

This is something the Nazi's would do if they were still around, to make sure the only voice the people heard was that of Josef Goebbels.

Why don't you guys start some liberal talk radio shows, instead of trying to shut down "Hannity & company?"

WHY????? Because as long as those shows are still broadcasting, the "other side" is still being heard to some degree, isn't it!

Yeah, the Mountain Home News does a fair job covering local happenings, but keep in mind that Mountain Home isn't all that large of a territory to cover yet..........although the "shifty fifty" in this town are constantly looking for more ways to industrialize here, and line their pockets some more.

The "Advertiser" and the "Star Bulletin" eh? THAT should be credible enough for the "other 49". What color is Hawaii? Red or blue? Anyone out there remember?

And I would still bet the Mountain Home News does a better job covering Mountain Home, particularly municipal services, than any other newspaper or TV or radio station.

You complain a lot about the Statesman - have you read the Press-Tribune? I seem to vaguely recall they had the more conservative reputation. Probably not near rightward enough to satisfy you, but still, if I remember right, more conservative than the Statesman.

The Honalulu Advertiser on Aug. 13, 1961 and in the Honalulu Star-Bulletin.

Hey Ex........he got IN.....no matter HOW he did it, or with who's help.

Ain't gonna matter down the road anyway. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.

And what two newspapers would those be?

-- Posted by bazookaman on Tue, Nov 25, 2008, at 4:50 PM

The Mountain Home News gives both of you platforms to spread your craziness, but I don't know why I'd expect to see gratitude. Since they probably don't parrot your childish conspiracy theories - Obama's a foreigner! Ignore the birth certificate and announcements of his birth in two American newspapers! - on their front page they must be part of the "liberal, deck-stacking agenda."

No argument THERE............well, you might get one from Ex-Intern and his buddies. If it wasn't for the press, they wouldn't be celebrating right now.

AyreWolf........the only thing we need to do with Mountain Home, is to stop building housing tracts, and quit encouraging everybody and their brother to move up here.

If people want to work in industrial ares with all the job opportunities............let 'em MOVE to "Ada" or "Canyon" type counties, and not turn Elmore into one.

I don't agree with a lot of what I see in the MHN either..so you're in good company.

"The press should be not only a collective propagandist and a collective agitator, but also a collective organizer of the masses"

Scary, but so very true.............
