Gotta leave y'all for a few days. Heading for California in the morning to pick up a rear seat for my 54 Volkwagen Oval Window Beetle.

While VW parts are plentiful as a rule, when you get back into the 50's, it becomes a "witch hunt" on occasion, and this is one of them.

I bought a very nice little 54, last year in Portland. Totally rebuilt except there was no back seat in it.................no sweat...."they're EVERYWHERE."

No they aren't.

Seems like only 2 other years of rear seats interchange with my old 54................53 & 55, and it's been like a hunt for buried pirate's treasure over this past year.

But a guy down in Chino (just northeast of L.A.) is parting out his 55, and I got a really good price on that rear seat, but the fly in the buttermilk is.......he doesn't want to box it up and ship anything that size, so I have to drive DOWN THERE and get it.................so before we start getting hit with snow...................

You guys play nice while I'm gone, and don't worry that I might come back all weird from drinking their water, or whatever else it is that seems to make them so goofy down there. I'm just going down there to toss that seat in the back of the pickup, stop at Camp Pendleton for a couple of hours, and get the heck out of there!

Thanks, everybody......I just got back last night. The MAIN thing I had to watch out for down there was the "Kamikaze" drivers!!.................wow!..........Just when you thought it was nuts up in Boise!

Well, all I know is that I never paid more than $2.74 ANYWHERE in California, a state KNOWN to "pick your pockets."

After this last trip, I'd have to go with Las Vegas and San Bernadino, as being worse than Utah drivers.

But......I can't imagine any reason to have to back down there for anything! Hope not anyway...that's INSANE to drive around there INTENTIONALLY!
