Not So "Merry Melodies"

Posted Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at 8:56 AM

Those of you out there old enough to remember those classic Warner Brothers cartoons, will remember at the very end, when Porky Pig emerged from the rainbow, stuttering....."Ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-ibidee-that's ALL folks!"

That thought came quickly to mind, after watching our country, which once stood for something, go down the toilet last night.

A musician for nearly 40 years now, humming tunes and verses is a natural part of my day. As I sat here this morning with my first cup of coffee (and there'll be SEVERAL cups today, as I didn't sleep well last night)......I got to thinking that as long as our Constitution is going to be "open season" next year, they might as well come up with some other flag and for SURE, change the National Anthem while they're at it.

And the song that came into my mind IMMEDIATELY, was that old rock & roll tune from the early 70's......"Bye Bye Miss American Pie", also known as "The Day The Music Died."

Of COURSE I'm upset about the election, because I know what's coming. We have effectively allowed the media to trick us into endorsing our own collapse. (When I say "WE", I don't mean everybody), but enough of us willing to "sign the title over" managed to make it to the polls yesterday, and "some of us, SEVERAL times, eh?" That shows a certain sense of style and integrity. Not to mention the Black Panthers at the doors in Philadelphia. Everything on the "up and up."

My greatest disappointment naturally, is with the American people, who in times past, would not have been duped by the obvious. Some young, vibrant, slick-talking dude with no notable accomplishments comes out of the woodwork spouting "change" and darned if everybody didn't start running around like they were hatched yesterday.

Well, what's done is done. Charisma and charm has replaced common sense, but this is one fashion statement we're ALL gonna pay for.

Michael Savage (who sometimes gets a little off beam on his radio show), was never more right than he was last night. I went into the bedroom and watched a few old episodes of "Leave It To Beaver" which bespeaks in SPADES of happier times, but I could still faintly hear the main tv in the living room, where my wife was still watching the newscast.

I could hear the cheers from that park in Chicago, and Michael Savage's words were just as clear to me, as he often says...."Liberalism is a mental disorder."

Even THEY are going to find that out, and their panic will come when they themselves realize that they can't go back and undo it.

I know very little about Baldwin, but just from the few things I HAVE heard, he would appesr to be a fairly straight-up guy.

Mike, do you know much about Chuck Baldwin?

Now I'm clinging even TIGHTER to my guns and religion!! I can't rally behind someone I don't even trust and I'm certainly not about to apologize for it. This man is going to have to prove himself and I don't see that happening.

The Supreme Court will change to the left, the very first time Obama gets to replace one of them.

As far as the Constitution goes, it is already under attack. They just haven't had the votes to get it done. They will now. If you want to see it for yourself, drive up to the Fairgrounds this weekend.

Great choice of tv programs. Good clean comedy, and A-OK for the kids and grandkids!

I agree with you Mike. While the left wants us to all get along now that they are in command, their idea of geting along is doing everything their way. I for one am not pleased the left will control all things coming out of Washington, but my greatest concern is the Supreme Court. Im sure that we will face ideas from the left that lead to them wanting to ammend the Constitution. Hope they fail.

By the way I watched Andy last night as most of the things on the tube disgusts me.

Incidently.....although I've never supported McCain by himself, I think we should ALL give him some kind of credit for the showing he managed, and the votes he was able to muster, in the face of the tremendous one-sided reporting by the media.

John McCain went into these last few months with the deck heavily stacked against him. Fearing the support Sarah Palin might stir, they went after her with an ax, on matters that were not even in the same hemisphere with issues they SHOULD have hit Obama and Biden with.

The rules of engagement favored only one side.

While this has become common, it's still very, very wrong, and you'd think that even the "party of the common man" would have stepped in and demanded fair coverage for both.

Even in his concession speech, John McCain admonished his own supporters for booing Obama, (which I personally thought they had every right to do, after such a crooked campaign).

But it's pretty hard to get your "day in court" when it's infested with kangaroos.

Sounds good on paper, but from my memory, things WERE considerably better 40 years ago. We had morals and standards then too.

Clinton's election, I could live with.

THIS one was slanted, frauded, intimidated, bought and paid for. We STILL don't know for sure if our "new" president is even a legal citizen, and no one is going to press this. Doesn't matter, I guess. Who cares about the Constitution anymore?

It bothers me deeply that so much has been sacrificed for what it's come to.

Working together side-by-side sounds wonderful, but I'm gonna have to SEE that. For a party with so much back-shelved agenda, I think the temptation to push every liberal concept through the Congress is going to be too irresistable.

As of January 20th, they will virtually be un-opposed. It'll be like leaving the bank vault open, and nobody there to keep watch.

I don't trust any of this. If I'm proven to be wrong, that would be great, and I'll be the first to admit it, but I'm not letting my guard down for a minute.

Yesterday's election was little more than a new trend, masquerading as some kind of "change."

I ain't from Missouri, but they're gonna HAVE to "show ME!"

Mike, it's not now, nor was it ever, a "Leave it to Beaver" world. It's what any of us would like to be, that's all -- but not reality.

I don't think the future will be easy, but millions and millions of people want to try a different approach, one that doesn't favor the wealthy over regular people.

One thing that will help the future is folks working together. The voters have spoken. That's what you and McCain and the veterans we'll remember on the 11th have worked, suffered, and even died for.

By the way, I came to terms with people who were pacifists (some religions, etc.) while my husband and sons put their lives on the line so they could remain pacifists. They, and you and McCain, protected the country for all Americans, no matter what the religion or political party.

There are always concerns about new things. It's natural. But we can't NOT go forward and walk and work together.
