Barack Obama made a pretty tacky comment a week or so ago, about Jesus being a "community organizer' and Pilate being a "governnor," which is a comment you'd probably expect out of that camp.
It got me to thinking about something though. There was an old radio show back in the 40's that later became a television series in the 50's, called "Amos 'n' Andy." I remember watching it as a kid, right along with the Honeymooners, Abbott & Costello, etc. As a matter of fact, I have the entire series of Amos 'n' Andy, the Honeymooners and most of the Abbott & Costello programs on DVD, which I STILL prefer to ANY "sitcom" on the boob tube today. I sadly remember Amos 'n' Andy being taken off the air because of the tumult raised by the NAACP, that blacks were being shown in a bad light. I never understood that, because when you looked at "Ralph Kramden" the bus driver and "Ed Norton" working in the sewer...........I just thought Amos 'n' Andy was pure comedy........So does Marla Gibbs, and so did Redd Foxx (just for the record), so don't be writing me any "bigot" letters. If you've never seen an episode of that show, you can't know what you've missed. ANYWAY............I said THAT to say THIS: I was watching one of those old episodes the other day, and the "Kingfish" (played by Tim Moore) was in court. The judge asked him what his occupation was. The Kingfish (who always made a fast buck by promoting a few shady deals) told the judge that he was a "financial manipulater." "A financial manipulater?" asked the judge? Andy Brown (played by Spencer Williams), stood up in the courtroom on what he thought was Kingfish's behalf and said, "Uh, that's right your honor.....he's been nippin' at MY finances for YEARS!" So what's all this got to de with Obama?.......well, after watching that particular episode, I'm just wondering what a "community organizer" IS, or DOES? Does he make sure only certain social clubs meet in special parts of town? Does he set up parking lots with cars on one side and pickups on the other? Maybe he tries to get different neighborhoods to shop at different times of the day to cut down the number of express lines in the stores. Alternate picnics in city parks?... one weekend for just the Democrats and the next weekend for Republicans? .........What exactly IS a "community organizer?"......anybody know? Whatever your quirks with Sarah Palin might be, she can AT LEAST make decisions. Apparently, the people of Alaska don't have any problems with her.....I mean she DID get elected Governor.
129 "present" votes..........ONE HUNDRED TWENTY NINE. Your boy can't make a decision on very much at all, can he? But he wants to run the country.
His people say a myriad of things, ranging from "conflicting interests" to not being versed up adequately on the facts to form an opinion on certain issues."
And this was just when he was in the ILLINOIS Senate, and not yet pre-occupied running for President.
If we have another "9/11", I don't want some goofball in the Oval Office who doesn't know where the men's room is without a committee advising him.
If his phone rings off the hook in the middle of the night because some major catastrophy just happened, what's Obama gonna do, say "Present?"

Oh yes, ExIntern.........he's wonderful, eloquent, smooth, he rallies, unites, inspires, the crowds follow him, chant his name and cling to his messages of change and hope.
They also rallied in Nuremburg, in Prague, In Berlin...to the same empty speeches but dynamic deliveries.
The only difference between to two, was Hitler at LEAST had a plan. It was wrong and twisted, but he HAD one.
You Dems hammer on Palin, desperately seeking to find SOMETHING earth-shattering on her. Sarah is NOT running for the #1 slot, but Obama IS. You lefties out there BETTER be concerned about these upcoming debates with McCain. HE's the one Barack better worry about.
McCain is the one Obama's running against, and experience is really going to come into play here, especially once they get up on the stage, and your "spin people" can't spoon-feed your boy with the answers. Even if they KNOW what's going to be asked (and I'll bet your people have an inside track on that.......Dem relationship with the media being what it is), they have no way to know what's going to happen in the next 90 minutes.
They don't know what McCain is going to bring up, or "counter punch" with. You guys have no way to "rehearse" your boy for that. To a great degree, he's gonna be up there on his own, with no prepared speeches or anybody giving him cues.
THEN, we'll see what he knows............and everybody's gonna be watching these debates.
I wouldn't be overly concerned with Palin right now. She isn't running for President.
Community organizer is what I meant to say (not planner) above. Someone gave that meaning as the very first post to this blog. The "community planner/city planner" is the same as P & Z here but they are supposed to make sure that there is "smart" growth and development---not what we have had here. A planner helps to figure out the "balance" in a community and determine what is needed to keep an area alive. On the county side that is a far cry from what we have in that office currently. Bonnie Sharp and Mr. Knight give new meaning to bad customer service given my last 2 weeks of attempting to obtain information from them regarding AEHI. I guess they forget that we, the citizens and tax payers, pay them their salary.
Can't keep quiet I want to know what the community planner is also and why they should need the right to have a puter with a limit set at $3400 for whoever that person is give me a break that is just not right for one person to have a puter that costs that much, As far as Obama goes he sure is not anyone to be running this country all those Big D's have in mind is spending money that they going to get from the taxpayers all Obama does is tell the public what he thinks they want to hear and get their vote, I sure don't want someone with his ideas being in the White House
If only we took as much time to pick a President/VP as we do to pick the family dog (pet). Things would be a lot different. Promises and fact are normally worlds apart.

If that was the entirity of his resume your sarcasm might be well-placed, Missy, but it isn't, and what was Sarah Palin doing from 1985 to 1988 when Obama was a community organizer? She was a TV sports reporter. As far as "trashing" or "knocking" Sarah Palin's experience goes, if you mean pointing out facts about her record, then yes that's what I've done - I think it's far more relevant that she left Wasilla $20 to $22 million in debt than that she likes moose-hunting.
And Obama casts far more votes in the Senate nowadays than John McCain - who misses upwards of 60 percent according to the Washington Post.
Very true.........those "143 days" I talked about earlier, signified how many days he'd been a U.S. Senator, when he decided he could run EVERYTHING, and thus form a Presidential committee. He's been there for a FEW votes, although I don't think "present" counts for all that much.
But that IS a fact, Opinion Missy. He HAS spent more time and energy running for President than he has doing anything else.
I also have a personal update. Do you remember the email I got from a friend of mine, with a flash "inside alert" that Biden might feign some mysterious illness" and get replaced by Hillary?
I think they were right about the "sudden emergency replacement", but I now think it's going to come via a different mode.
Biden just chastized Obama for that "terrible" commercial they just did on McCain. If they publicly go against each other, Obama will have "no choice but to replace him"..........or........Joe Biden will "step down for the good of the party."
However it is orchestrated, they're gonna find some way to get Hillary on the ticket without making Obama look more foolish than he actually is. Biden's accusation is WAY out of context......Democrats do NOT chastize each other, no matter HOW bad one of their own people are. We know THAT from "Slick Willie."
Obama doesn't like Hillary one bit, but with Sarah Palin in the race, he NEEDS Clinton, to try to save the female vote.
Not long after the Palin announcement, Obama KNEW he had screwed up ignoring Clinton. If Biden can somehow get himself "justifiably removed", maybe the voters won't think Obama just changed his mind all of a sudden.
Watch this happen..........somehow, Biden is going to get himself replaced, because the momentum has now switched to the McCain team.
I just hope when and if it happens, the swing voters will catch onto what's happening. Democrats themselves won't see through it, since they traditionally vote for ANYBODY with a (D) after their name.
If Charles Manson was running as a Democrat for some office, all THEY would see is the (D)........."Yeah, he MUST be one of us.....gimme that pencil!"
Sadly, there a a lot of Republicans out there with that same mentality...........which is exactly why this country is so screwed up today.
And those things, God help us, will make for such a great President. And you knock Palin? At least she has experience (in the operation of Government that is) no matter how much you trash it. How about his Senate history where he has voted on way less than what has been before him. Or, how about the fact that he has spent more time attempting to be President than being at/in the Senate. Sounds like a good guy to be a CEO of one of these banks. See past the suit and the slick talking and promises. That is all they are is empty promises.
Even though I'm out of town on vacation and I've already answered this question, I'll go ahead and answer it again. First, though, when and where did Barack Obama say Jesus was a community organizer and Pontious Pilate was a governor? I've heard of a t-shirt with that slogan and a few folks from the grassroots making that comment but not Obama himself.
Obama got a job placement office put in his neighborhood and asbestos removed from a public housing project, while training community members hands-on so they could see what tactics in applying public pressure work. He worked for an organization which hired him and whose management has given him generallly good reviews for his work there.
In that case, we CAN'T be talking about the same character. By your description, he'd have to be a right-down-the-middle "moderate." If Obama was any further to the left, he'd be out in the Pacific somewhere, which actually................well, never mind.
A community organizer is someone who tries to get all the people out to help better society. It's not just one side or the other. Community, means everyone in said town, county, state, country. Not just right or left. Black or white.
