"Big Brother, alias: The Boogieman"

Over the past few years, through my occasional "Letters" to the Editor, some people have regarded me as the old "gloom and doom radical," which is fine, as this is still a free country; for now anyway. But answer this: If you were at a big barbeque and saw a rattlesnake slither onto the lawn, would you risk causing a panic among so many guests, or simply not get concerned until someone was hit?

"Big Brother" is not any one individual, nor does he openly dress or act like the "Boogieman" of our childhood stories. Therein lies his power. We aren't children anymore (most of us anyway), and as "rational adults," if we can't physically SEE him, he doesn't exist. But he DOES.

In the form most common, he wears a 3-piece suit and works through one of many branches of government. These are the characters we send to Washington to represent us, but strange things seem to happen after they've been there awhile. The bulk of them conveniently forget that they're supposed to be working for US, not the other way around.

For most high level politicians, power is intoxicating, and when we don't change them out as often as we should, or worse, not at all..........the mere "dream" of ABSOLUTE POWER becomes irresistable to most of them.

There are no term limits for Senators or Congressmen, except for the voters themselves, so their jobs are safe, just as long as we all keep voting "straight ticket" term after term. We get poorer helping them get richer, and all the problems are still here.

The "Boogieman" IS real, because it is WE who have created him and continue to maintain his habits. We still "accept" what he says as the "Gospel" and he knows 99% of us aren't going to break away from "American Idol" and spend a few evenings in the library looking at his job requirements, verifying for OURSELVES what he CAN do or CAN'T do. CNN seems to be good enough for us.

Never content with what he already has stolen, the "Boogieman" jumps and twitches like an addict needing a fix. Through the "Patriot Act" he spies on those beyond suspected terrorists (and has astonishingly admitted that publicly!)

He is now looking at not only tapping into our E-Mail (which he might be doing anyway) but our LETTER mail as well. All in the name of "security" of course. He won't close the borders and toss the aliens out, but he'll spy on US as some kind of solution.

This proposed "REAL" I.D. concept. Anyone care to venture a guess at how much of our personal background and history will be required? And we will NEED it to merely be able to buy food.........not to get religious, but the Bible talks about that, you know.

Absolute power. The old Bazookaman here doesn't cater to rhetoric.........care for a few facts?

"Big Brother" would like chip implants in newborns at birth, although he's been unsucessful to date...........the Jews were "stamped" too, before exile and extermination.

Books were banned and burned, with the people being told only what the 3rd Reich allowed.........today, here in 2008 America, the bureaucrats fear talk-radio and are trying to shut IT down. Why? What do they fear?

"Big Brother" bans public prayer in school, except for the Muslim kids who can pray to Mecca, so as not to alienate their "heritage."

McCarthy and several other big shot Democrats raised havoc in several southern states over people flying Confederate flags in their own yards, but were strangely silent when the Mexicans held huge rallies up and down the streets of Southern California, even to the point of taking an American flag from a U.S. Post Office pole and replacing it with a Republic of Mexico flag. That was ok of course, best not to offend them or their "heritage." Well, good or bad, those Southerners have a heritage too, and they weren't marching up and down the streets flying it in everybody's face. But it's ok to jump on THEM. Oh.........that's different........I see.

And God help the Border Patrol Agent who actually DOES his job, because he's going to prison. Instead of water stations, why don't we just set up free lemonade and burger stands every hundred yards. Taxpayers wouldn't mind what they didn't know, eh?

The "Boogieman" is REAL, folks.

Want something a tad more tantilizing?.............................Hitler took Czechoslavakia's guns. Shortly thereafter, Hitler took Czechoslavakia. Within the following 10 years, over 6 million UNARMED Jews went to the ovens.

Never happen here.............oh really?.........

There are several gun ban bills waiting in the congressional wings. Every one of them sponsored by a liberal........even with our borders wide open.

All 3 Presidential candidates are hardcore anti-gun, including McCain (I used to live down there)........even with our borders wide open.

Congress is ALREADY controlled by you-know-who.

Still don't believe in the "Boogieman?"

IT IS WRITTEN (by our founding fathers) that citizens shall be taxed on a TARIFF basis, and that money to be used for OUR country.................says so. Read it.

So....parents.....do you know where your tax dollars are tonight?

We'll discuss that in a future installment. But you don't have to look in your closet or under your bed. The "Boogieman" is hiding in plain sight. All you have to do is open your eyes and remember the old adage......."There are none so blind, as those who WILL not see."...................He's there baby.......he's there.

Ok Bazookaman........we've heard your gripes on this, so what do we do about it, smart guy, we can only vote in Idaho. America is made up of 50 states, remember?

.......I can count.........you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't have a computer, and you surely have family and friends in different parts of the country. When you finally "see the Boogieman," get online and share it with them. Good news can travel as quickly as bad news, over the internet. Get involved while you still have SOME say in this land....................................and until next time, as Mr. Rogers used to say....."A very happy...tomorrow...to you!"

America is indeed a melting pot. Always was. We just need to be very selective now about who we allow in, now that we have an organized culture of terrorists trying to kill us all.

A lot of people think this border thing is aimed at denying Mexicans a piece of the "Dream." The idea, is to prevent some Arab with an agenda, from sneaking in behind Juan, Pedro and Paco.

Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity are no heroes of mine. They are little more than mouthpieces for the GOP, and have never met a Republican they didn't like.

Fact is, I was approached not too long ago by a longtime fellow conservative who said, "Mike, I read your letters in the paper all the time, and for an old Reagan supporter, you're awfully hard on the GOP. You hammer our guys harder than you do the Democrats."

Without batting an eye, I replied, "I EXPECT more from OUR guys, don't YOU?"

He had no comeback for that.

Thanks Karen.........I'll do my best to keep everyone thinking. There's too much at stake now, for folks to just sit around hoping it'll somehow all "come out in the wash."

""Big Brother" bans public prayer in school, except for the Muslim kids who can pray to Mecca, so as not to alienate their "heritage.""-

Not true, Bazookaman.

Any kid can pray, christian, moslem, or otherwise. The government, i.e. the school, cannot run the prayers, or even appear to. Big difference.

Oops........I stand corrected. I was obviously thinking about "public prsyer."

I still think we make too many allowances for them.

Prayer belongs in church. Not in schools.

Prayer belongs where ever one decides to pray!!!!

Bazookaman glad to see you have your own blog, always enjoy reading what you have to say. I have sent a copy of you blog to my father and I plan to make sure that it is spread to as many people as we know.

I know there are a few people who may believe you're paranoid and that's ok because they are the one's in deinal and choose not to see what is right in front of them. SHEEP is how I refer to them.

I have had the discussion about chip implanting in my office (a subject that is ineresting to have) and I believe they will try very hard to convince first time parents that it is the best way to keep track of their child. Telling them that if they should come up missing they will be found instantly! I believe it to be the mark of the beast!!! I used to think that the antichrist was going to be a person I'm starting to believe it's a group of people!!!

I agree 100% that people need to start waking the hell up and figuring out what's going on before it's too late!!!!

Great blog keep up the good work.

Thanks Missylynn. It's always good to know that not everyone out there has their head in the sand!

Whatever you say Missylynn. Last I checked, prayer was not allowed in school. That must really tick you off eh? Too bad.

Because keeping Church and State separate is the only thing separating us from the Middle East.

I understand your thought mrfresh28 and just so you know it doesn't tick me off. I believe it to be sad that if my child is a christian and wants to pray before she eats a meal at school she would be discouraged to do so because it may or may not offend someone. I don't believe in forcing anything on anyone but I also don't believe in taking the right away either. If there are children who "because of their up bringing" don't believe in God and are told it is against some belief for them to pray, or celebrate christmas, or say the pledge then by all means they should have the right to sit out. But under no circumstances should that be taken away from the kids who do believe and want to pray, or celebrate christmas or are proud to be able to say the pledge.

I guess I'm in awe at how easy it is for someone to strip away beliefs, and customs, and heritage just because it doesn't fit into what they believe all of that should be. How offended someone can get at seeing a cross on the side of the road and want it removed because some how it has personally affected them. That is just selfish, pathetic and the rantings of a bored person. But I have to tell you mrfresh28 I love how you try to take the opposite ends of the spectrum and tie them together like that is possible!!!!

I'm with you on this one, Missylynn. God is probably very close to saying "enough" and pulling the plug on this lunacy down here. More than once, I have pulled off the freeway and had a few words with him. You pray when the spirit moves you. There is no set time or place. If it offends someone....tough. Like I always tell atheists, "If you don't believe in Jesus, that's certainly your business..............but you'd better be right!

As for offending people, it seems to depend on what side of the coin you're on. If a southerner displays the old "stars and bars" in his own yard, he is chastised, but it's perfectly ok for thousands of illegals to march up and down the streets waving THEIR flag, when they aren't even supposed to be here in the first place.

That's different, you see.

Under this proposed "Fairness Act," libs would be allowed equal time to debate radio talk show hosts, but there is NO provision for allowing those same hosts to debate guys like Blitzer and Matthews on television.

That's different too.

Hey.......we conservatives have had to tolerate the cartoon strip "Doonesbury" for over THIRTY years, but "Mallard has to go......Mallard has to go......Mallard has to go!"

That's different as well.

In the Letters to the Editor column of most major newspapers, including the Statesman, the "Left letters" far outnumber the "Right." Example..........I was HAMMERED for my remarks about the influx of Californians.....and that's ok, I'm a big boy, I can take it. But there were NO letters printed SUPPORTING my views. When I called and asked about that, I was told that there were simply none sent in.

Gimme a break guys.........Idaho is chuck FULL of people who resent the invasion and they're quite vocal about it..........."Nobody else wrote in, eh?"

Missylynn.......just stand up for your beliefs, welcome those who share. Friendly debate is good, but when it isn't, just put 'em on "disregard." Remember that the final tally is the only one that counts.
